Hey guys. I am now seriously considering the EV conversion to my KTM quad. I can get a good price for all the petrol stuff (motor, exhaust, fuel tank etc) so that will fund it no probs. Need someone with good understanding of this type of thing to try and get a good plan hatched. Need to know power ...

Overall quad winner. The cars and bikes have their own catagories.
Do the links work? I do them the same as other forums but seem to have trouble with this one.

Hi Guys. I just got back from racing the Australasian Safari on my quad and I must say I am pleased to see so much activity on the SA part of the forum. I am still keen to do a electric conversion on one of my race quads and have a buyer for one of my motors. Here is a few links to results for that ...

Where are all the SA EV heads?

Hi Rodney, great to see more people getting into the swing of things. Your project sounds very interesting. I am dreaming of a similar sort of thing for a race quad. It should be in the electric racing section of this forum. Have a look if your interested as I have no idea about the electronic side ...

Where are all the SA EV heads?

Hi Shane, I am from Angle Vale. Yes, there are others out there. They just need a little ecouragement to come out of hiding! I want to do an electric conversion on a high performance quad. Fossile burning donks are shocking when it comes to reliability. My fears came true recently when I cooked a mo...

ZEVA's next conversion(s)

I don't know much about the tech side of things but how about a nice old car with dual mode, low power for extra range and then flip a switch to max performance but with little range. Perhaps running two seperate motors? Nice old muscle cars or sports cars are cool and have with stood the test of ti...

Hey all. It was great catching up and meeting you all. I think a very good turnout for our first ever meeting and lots of good ideas. A fast quad is still a worthy project but all these car projects have also got me thinking. One small problem with doing a car conversion is that the car is out of da...

Is there a motor which is lighter and less HP? Say 50hp and 20 to 30kg? Some dimensions would be good also.

Thanks antiscab. Is that motor AC?. I would like to run lite batteries. Weight savings are performance gains. I have not seen any performance oriented quads come out of china, just utility style quads which is not what I am on about. Just to give you an idea a typical race quad costs about $12k to $...

TESLA not so expensive

Ok. So best and cheapest deal for Mr and Mrs Joe Average is to start with a high KM second hand car which is in good condition but worn out mechanicaly and have it converted. Eg: tidy 8yo Camry with 200,000 k's for say $4,000 or less if it has engine issues. Spend $10k on top and keep the thing for ...

I do not think this is a problem joe. There are power points EVERY WHERE. And you don't have to fill a fuel tanker to get the power there. I think there are no limiting factors. Just needs to happen. Perhaps a law to stop big companies from buying pattents to supress competition would be a step in t...
