Re: Battery interconnect sizing

Hi there - I'd go copper. Easier to work with, good conductivity, few issues with dealing with surface corrosion. The weight saving isn't worth the effort - in particular the difficulties of dealing with aluminium surface corrosion creating high resistance joins. I buy copper bar of an appropriate c...

Re: Electric Motorkhana and khanacross car

Hi there Greg - these issues (and more) for custom built electric race cars are well addressed in the Formula SAE competition, which has had an e-car category for nearly 10 years now. (BTW: for those who have not heard of it - FSAE is an annual, international competition for university engineering s...

Leaf at Pickles auctions: 7 bars left

Hi all/anyone looking at the Leaf for sale via Pickles in Darwin: https://www.pickles.com.au/cars/item/search#!/search-result?q=(And.ProductType.Vehicles._.(C.Make.Nissan._.Model.LEAF.)) FYI: it only has 7 (of the original 12) capacity bars left. That is usually the trigger for a new battery. Cheers...

Also curious about the mistake so as not to do it myself. (I don't want to end up as another 'dead user' ;-) )

EV report on the ABC Friday 3rd

A good summary of where Aust (and the world) are in EV adoption today - including interviews with AEVA members Kathleen Davis (as an EV owner) and Rus Sheppard (corporate member EVolution).
You can watch it here: https://www.abc.net.au/news/programs/the-business/

Re: Electric Motorkhana and khanacross car

As a former motorkhana competitor through the RCCV: I would have been interested but apologies, I never noticed your posts.
Love the idea of an electric motorkhana special. That car must have scared a few/all of the fossil competitors!

Re: EVs available in Australia (list)

On-the-road pricing (or even ads on CarSales) not yet to be seen, so keeping the Kona electric on the Fact Sheet (http://www.aeva.asn.au/sites/default/files/public/u552/Aust%20BEVs%20PHEVs%2019.2.26_0.pdf) as a 'TBC' guestimate on pricing till it happens. (Mind-you, the guesstimate is a bit out ... ...

Re: Need Help with J1772 wiring. Gelco EVSE ??

Hi there-AVC2 works well for both of those functions. Been in my Berlingo EV for 2-3 years now. Best function BTW is the lockout one: WAY easier than setting up micro switches on filler flap etc.

Re: Nissan Announce Pre-ordering for August release of Leafs

It's the Leaf 2.ZERO being released here. Leaf 3.ZERO was released in Jan this year for US, Japan, Europe etc. (Sadly, we arn't in the 'etc'). The 3.ZERO has propilot etc. (BTW Leaf 3.ZERO is 40kWh, Leaf 3.ZERO e+ is the 63kWh battery one. 3.ZERO e+ becomes available mid-year, pre-orders started ove...

Hi there: welcome to the EV early adopter world! Dealers really don't know how to deal with the reduced service needs of EVs/how to modify their business model. Re: How common are leaf with 6.6kw on board chargers?

Hi there Raoul-only 2013 onwards had the option of a 6.6kW charger. All 2011 and 2012 ones have 3.6. Therefore 'virtually' all Australian delivered ones (which are 2011 or 2012) are 3.6. There were 1 or 2 late demonstrators spotted with the lower hump behind the back seat signifying charger had move...
