Re: Feeling jittery
I went for the Braumach spare, over-the-top price but worth it for the peace of mind. I had a Leaf from 2013-2018, nice car to drive, terrible range, but a simple vehicle I was comfortable with. I sit in the model 3 some days searching the internet for some obscure feature, like how to unlock the pa...

I guess I'm just an old dog struggling with new tricks. Still, no spare wheel & having to memorise a simultaneous button press to reboot the display isn't helping the jitters.

The ioniq has battery thermal management which is a plus for me, my 50k km Leaf down to 9 bars now after 3 Sydney summers.

There was a mob in Melbourne (power & interference consultants I think) used to flog a portable ferroresonant line conditioner back in the 90s (couple of hundred bucks from memory). Very effective deglitcher, about he size of a housebrick, weighed 3 times as much! Be interesting to see if the ha...

I had a 500whr ev scooter pack turn itself into a firework a year or two back & that was a sobering experience. Every time I get the urge to tinker with the Leaf traction pack I remember the episode & occupy myself with something else.

Does anybody have a dead or empty (minus the 4 pouch cells) Leaf cell module they don't want? I've seen heaps of photos with dimensions but really need to get my hands on one for a better understanding.

Those Tesla modules are something to drool over are they not! I could never buy them for a solar app, the temptation to try to shoehorn them into the Leaf somehow would be just too great.

Good grief SOC hysteresis and instantaneous (current reversal) hysteresis! What a great read though, esp that bit on dithering hysteresis away! And did I see a 'subspace' reference in there to go with your Klingon like Warburg element?

Think I feel more like a lab rate in a battery metrics maze than an hysterical rhesus monkey Weber but I get your drift. Why 35% SOC as the transition point between the 2 different hysteresis corrections?

OK so if you have to pick an opportune & consistent point in the charge/discharge cycle to read OCV (say relaxed after a full charge) to defeat OCV hysteresis, that means you only know SOC at that invariant point. This is presumably why Weber is correcting OCV for internal resistance changes wit...

I'm puzzled by page 3 . Figure 2 shows OCV hysteresis (different voltages for the same SOC depending on past history, ie charging or discharging). But none of the models seem to allow for this? How can they claim to calculate SOC from OCV if they don't take charge/discharge hysteresis into account? ...

I've seen 2-3 pips in with the batteries in a standard 19" rackmount cabinet or similar enclosure. It makes for a tidy, transportable product & removable side panels address access issues but I wonder about the wisdom of heat sources in with the batteries? Having said that there are some in...

Impressive. So presumably you're well placed to answer the question of whether at low loads one or more PIPs shuts its inverter down to save idle current draw. This would be most apparent at night, when the load would be low, there is no solar charging, and if the solar day was reasonable, there wo...

Not sure if this is relevant to the current conversation but I found the resolution of currents reported by the PIPS was give or take an amp. So at low idle powers something like 2A reported could be anywhere between 1A & 3A, most likely 3A since they tend to underead. Had to fudge a lot to get ...
