Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters
It's been a while. My pair of Chinese knockoff PIP4048MS have been running for almost two years. I had an early PIP failure and had to use my spare but otherwise everything has been OK. Recently I noticed three out of four fans had stopped. I did what any sane person who bought Chinese knockoffs wou...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters
I have to make room , build a rack for the 40 cells and wire it all up then I will have two more than I need . I have a spare that I will collect on the weekend and drop in which gets the system back online but if the units on eBay are genuine enough to update firmware it would be good to start wit...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters
Given MPP Australia only sell non patchable buggy models and given that I have just had my first 4048MS rubbish clone die, where can I safely buy a good PIP 48/60 volt / equivalent firmware updateable inverter or three? Also, happy to give the dead one, minus the parallel kit, to an enthusiastic per...

Re: BLADE TOWING A CARAVAN?
That Blade was the final prototype and Simon Hackett bought it. I acquired it from Simon and kept it running until I ordered a Tesla. Jeff is a gifted mechanical engineer who can design and build anything. He has built electric motor bikes and all sorts of other stuff. They are keen AEVA members in ...

Batrium BMS Monitoring
Hope this is the right place to post this. I wrote a bit of python3 to monitor my Batrium BMS. You can modify it using info here: https://github.com/Batrium/WatchMonUdpListener/blob/master/docs/WatchMon%20Wifi%20UDP%20protocol%20sw1.0.30%20v1.0.pdf I plan to incorporate it into my pvoutput upload sc...

Re: PIP-4048MS inverter
Forum user hwassie published a Python program to read the data from a PIP and upload it to a database. I was more interested in pvoutput.org where I already graph my old Xantrex system, originally with an Arduino using some code I open sourced and then more recently with something on a RaspberryPi t...

Re: PIP-4048MS inverter
I bought one of these clones. It came with a parallel kit installed. Parallel mode was enabled. So far, I haven't been able to install Coulomb's firmware but I haven't tried since I turned parallel mode off. It is however working quite well and I will probably buy a second and possibly third one to ...

Re: Brighsun 220Ah cells
I bought 8 cables claiming to be 2 AWG 35cm long with terminals on AliExpress for 2 x $28. Probably bad value given I have a hydraulic crimper but it made things very simple.

Re: Off-grid solar diagram / ideas
Hi John, this one is an extremely contentious issue among members here regarding the requirement for blocking diodes. We are not far out of Adelaide up in Mannum so if you are interested in a visit drop us a PM and we will arrange a time etc Love a good contentious issue! Can't see it doing me any ...

Those interconnects are so nicely fabricated!
Now I'm going to have to do it properly or hide the photos forever.

Re: Off-grid solar diagram / ideas
Terry, I think you need to be careful about putting panels in parallel. I have read a few articles on the need for blocking diodes to prevent shaded panels from sinking current from generating panels. https://www.electronics-tutorials.ws/diode/bypass-diodes.html I have bought 25 250 watt panels rece...

Re: Off-grid solar diagram / ideas
I was contemplating a diode across the contactor which took me off to the world of high current diodes. I'm going to wait and see what Batrium can do. It has multiple outputs and inputs and places for logic. I've got the software running in a VM on my Mac so I'm almost ready to play. In another part...

Re: Off-grid solar diagram / ideas
I'm basically building this.
The main contactor on the battery may be replaced by a good software control system but I appreciate the value in a contactor driven by a BMS.
Each solar panel is actual a string of three.

Re: Brighsun 220Ah cells
I have bought 16 Batrium BMS modules of the terminal + flylead variety. I'm having some regret because it would have been easier to use the dual flylead modules but it doesn't matter. I'm planning on using aluminium links like Steve. Thanks for the Alvania tip :-) My PIP inverter just arrived and I ...
