I doubt you could put an electric motor that big between the transfer case and rear drive.

Yeah I did say I doubt it would fit.

IF it fits...
IF it has a through shaft...

^^^See the IF's are BIG Image

All sounds very improbable to me.
I'm still leaning towards full ev with range extender Image
So the short answer is NO but the long answer is YES.

I agree. I can't find any laws prohibiting generator running while towing other than common sense ones like secure cable connection etc.

...Auto cut-out in a crash.
Noise
emissions
Secure mounts
Just the usual junk associated with petrol motors.
So the short answer is NO but the long answer is YES.

I've been doing some more reading and leading towards full ev with one or two 5kva or similar (depends on cost, compatibility and space)generators under the bonnet(space permitting) and a larger generator mounted into the campertrailer.
Couple of reasons, the campertrailer can't carry a lot of extra weight if I want to keep it legal, so one large generator isn't feasible.
Having one or two under the bonnet will assist with range if I am going beyond my batteries capability and don't have the campertrailer.
What are people's thoughts on this. Thanks
