No active battery management in a 2020MY EV in Australia is just about inexcusable in my opinion. But in saying that the Gen 1 is a great drive especially on the highway.

I have a MPP Solar 2424MSE surplus to requirements here. It was used on a set of AVASS cells for a bit. Any interest?

Re: Perth Single Phase 5kW solar limit

A friend of mine has a tesla, 5kW of solar, and a single phase connection. Apparently he cannot expand his system even with export limiting as Synergy have a rule against it, without going to a battery, or three phase. Does anyone know if there's a way around this or an exemption for those with an ...

Hi guys, Here's my 1970 Beetle I've been restoring for the last couple of years. In the last few months I've finished the panel and paint and now I'm starting on the fun stuff :) Mounted on the original transaxle is a Nissan leaf motor and inverter which will likely be controlled by an openinverter...

Re: ABS and Autohold Question

I'm waiting for my Kona EV. It's to replace a VW Tiguan of "dieselgate" fame. The Tiguan, like the Kona EV has an Autohold function that basically stops the brake fluid from leaving the wheel cylinders once the wheels stop turning, until you touch the throttle. It's a helpful thing in traffic and o...

Bluelink uses an embedded modem inside the AVN unit for comms. For Australia we have an add on 4G/GPS/OBD module that is plugged into the OBD port permanently. We don't have any controls available on the MyHyundai webpage either.

Re: As a backup power source ?

For emergency power, I wanted to put a 1000w inverter directly of the model3 battery. I was thinking about putting a 120amp x 40cm (with 100amp fuse) wire to a surface mounted 100amp anderson plug located in the frunk. I could then put the car in neutral and run the inverter. Can anyone see any fla...

OpenEVSE has been brilliant so far. I have assembled a single phase version with 32A 3 phase plug for my Kona and also a 3 phase 32A version with long leads for a spare. They don't out of the box have DC offset protection but that can be mitigated with a correctly chosen RCBO in the supply. I use th...
