Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Hi, it requires the connected inverter to "pre-charge". Never heard this term before. It sounds like a soft start from reading Wiki. Does the 5048MG have this function? Pre-charge isn't something that is commonly implemented in inverters, and certainly PIPs/Axperts don't have it. But all inverter in...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Hi, Just wondering if anyone else has encountered an overload fault with their 3kw or 5kw model. Basically it won't bypass to grid when battery overload happens in the 105%-130% rated power band. It will bypass to grid when overload >130%. Instead of bypassing to grid, it just shuts down the output ...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Hi, I was planning to buy a Daly Smart BMS, but read in a forum that it requires the connected inverter to "pre-charge". Never heard this term before. It sounds like a soft start from reading Wiki. Does the 5048MG have this function? Apparently, it causes the (maybe not so) Smart BMS to cycle On and...

MPP SOLAR PIP-7248MAX

Hi, I was recently looking at duplicating my existing 5048MG, and found an Australian MPP Solar store. There was a new inverter: PIP-7248. Sounds like a better idea than 2 MGs for my purposes. Most I have needed recently, since putting the whole house on the MG, is 6000W (which caused the MG to trip...

Re: low voltage battery cutoff options

Hi, Re your Solid state relay link on your post (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SSR-100-DD- ... Sw~c1dQDgM), i can use that between my battery and inverter, what did you use to control i.e. connect / disconnect the relay. perhaps i can use the 48V 30A LVD mentioned above to control this 100A relay? I c...

Re: low voltage battery cutoff options

Hi, Just re-read your original post (raining here in Brisbane, our daughter is at work, and our grand-son is at school). I missed that you have an ATS. Using the 12V VSR: I think you could, if it's ground/-ve is placed 4 cells away so it sees the correct voltage. That is maybe what you had planned. ...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Hi, Is anyone using a Victron BMV with these inverters, it uses a shunt right (up to 6000A/50mV shunt, that seems huge, the 500A/50mV would surely be alright for most people) so it has very accurate measurements and doesn't suffer from the voltage decreasing by nearly a volt when load is applied to ...

Hi, Still waiting for 6 replacement NiFes. Even if I do receive them, I'm not confident of ever getting the remaining 34. It's been 6 months since I was promised them, last contact about 4 weeks ago, just before we left for QLD. So, looking around for other options. I could probably buy 16 x 200Ah, ...

since I turned Utility charging on, first @ 2A, then 10A, I haven't had an Error 08. I presume that you turned on utility charging specifically to overcome the bus voltage errors, correct? Did 2 A not suffice? 2A worked OK. AFAIK. Hard to know for sure with an intermittent fault. I went to 10A as t...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

There is an issue with fault code 08 (error 08: bus voltage is too high), with certain types of solar panel, especially if the panels are grounded (as they should be). This has been discussed extensively on the South African Power Forum, and member APV finally found a solution for it, given in this...

Hi,

I use Watchpower. It's free. Does what I want, monitor & change settings. Bit slow when retrieving past data, and date/time column has to be resized every f@#king time, but it's free. Did I already mention that?

Re: 12v lithium batteries can't be paralleled?

Hi, The voltage drop under load says either the cells or the BMS or both are not up to a high current draw. If it really did share the load across both batteries it would only be 85 amps per battery, 85 amps from a 120Ah battery is roughly a 0.7CA draw per battery, the cells should be able to mainta...

Hi Have found out some information regarding the regeneration of NiFe cells not only do you rinse them out and replace the electrolyte you also give them a flogging a high current charge that has them boiling (gassing) but not heating up I thought 1.9V/cell. After I'd cleaned & renewed mine, I put a...

Re: 12v lithium batteries can't be paralleled?

Hi, Lithium batteries inherently have a very low internal resistance. if you attempt to parallel multiple 12v batteries, one battery will do all the work until it fails and that will kill the other batteries in parallel. This also goes for the maximum current load and continuous current load, they w...

Re: 12v lithium batteries can't be paralleled?

Hi, I think the BMS might not like the cascade in the event of a low or high battery. If one BMS goes open circuit, the others are still closed, but the load on them increases by a third. Until one of those goes open circuit, and the whole load is being borne by the one remaining. And then it goes. ...

The solar input is now up to to the 25A limit for Alternator charging. I can confirm from our own usage that this unit will charge from solar with the ignition switc...

Hi, If the MG doesn't have "double conversion", and "generates slightly higher AC voltage to inject AC power", how does it manage getting the voltage down to the 240V setpoint? My MG regularly has 244V (night) to 248V (day) input, but only outputs ~ 240V (except when the battery bank get low). Those...

Hi, We've had the West Australian-made Intervolt DCC R2-0 in our motorhome for nearly two years now after we swapped our house batteries over to LiFePO4 chemistry and we swear by it. They probably aren't the cheapest unit you will find, but it does what it does very well. Cheers, I did look at them,...
