"It's all about the Batteries" - to the tune of "All about that Bass"
perhaps could change it to
"All about the Batts" "no petrol"

Nice find Johny, I was wondering what Wayland had been doing recently.

I'm not a hater but I simply don't get why does he need to do a burnout up a hill if it has 1800 ft pounds of torque? It's like he carries on like the car is all in the hood bad ass, but it need the assistance of the steep hill to do a proper burnout... If it was so all that, then he could just smoke it senseless on the flat without the use of brakes. Using the hill is no better than using the brakes and doing a line lock. Makes me laugh that a self proclaimed electric supercar cant just light it up without tricks.

If you have ever driven a car set up for drag racing you would know that they don't do good burn-outs. They put water on the track to start the tyres spinning for the burn-out to warm the tyres before they line up at the lights. The car would be set up to transfer max weight onto the rear wheels and sit flat while doing it. Watching the way that car launches says they have done an incredible job with the suspension.
Back in a past life I worked with a street registered 6 cyl turbo charged Cortina that did 10 sec and 128MPH quarter times at Eastern Creek. Trying to keep it flat rather than lift the left front wheel yet still hook up was a task too far for a street registered car, yet it was very hard to do a burn out with it, it just launched and took your breath away.

I've done my fair share of drag racing and I don't care how well the rear of the Mustang is set up for traction. 1800 foot pound of torque should be enough to shred the tyres, no aids included. I did some Googling to see what the Mustang has under the rear standard, and it is a big pile of poo.

There are numerous over the counter kits that improve the rear end massively. I'm more inclined to think that this guy like every other person who builds an EV and makes wild claims is over estimating it's potential.

It's easy to say the motor makes X but then forget it has to go through a gearbox and a diff and other parasitic losses along the way, they just look at the claimed max even though as the power increases the heat also increase, and you get to a point of diminishing returns.

I'm sure the car could do a half decent burnout without the hill, so instead of trying to spin crap to people who know what he's doing, why not just be honest about the results and do a proper burnout.

For me it just throws all other claims into question...

No hill required

Also not a power burnout, that is a line lock!

Note how fast the front wheels move when he starts going. He has either a line lock device fitted (disables rear brakes) or he has disconected the brake lights, but either way he clearly has his foot on brake.

Again no brake lights, this just looks like another attempt to decieve that it is capable of doing a burnout under it's own power.

800 hp / 1800 ft lb, should be heaps to just bag those tyres silly with no gimmicks. I call bull crap on his quoted numbers.

Most of these are real burnouts...

The car has done the 1/4 mile in 9.89 at 140.5 mph, with 0-60 (mph) time of 1.79s. edit: (claimed on their website)

I really don't think it has a problem doing burnouts.

More likely he just likes making more smoke before having to back off.

Zombie 222 fastest for now

Based on what? they are just random snippets of information, no actual real comparison.

Had to laugh at this "While the Zombie 222’s 800-plus horsepower and 1800 pound-feet of torque was good for a zero to 60 time of around 2.4 seconds last year, the company has got it down to an incredible 1.7 seconds. That’s entering territory that was once thought impossible to crack – that is, until the instant torque and explosive acceleration of EVs came into its own"

Guess Top Fuellers that are doing it around the 1 second mark must be electric. I've run 1.7's on my bike and it isn't particularly quick, in fact it is probably the slowest part of the run.

If any area I expect an EV to excel it would be in the 60' times.

They aren't comparing 60 ft times, they are comparing 0 to 60mph times. They did say at the very beginning that electric dragsters and special built vehicles were not included, but then they include formula E cars etc in the match up, but it good to see more reporting about how fast the electric cars go rather than the slow mobile road block tags they gave them before.

Top Fuellers are rather specialised dragsters. I would like to see one turn around at the end of a run and do a second run immediately.

Likewise cars set-up to do burnouts. Low traction tires, skinny tires, high psi, soaked in diesel etc. Do put on a good show.

Practically all cars can do a burnout. Not many can do a sub 10 sec 1/4 mile.
