Finally got to posting some pics of my 2002 Holden ute.

The battery is 100 x 100 Ah Thunhersky.

Greenstage KiwiAC with Semikron SKAI inverter.

160 frame motor with new water cooled housing, and single stage gearbox with park brake.

The cells almost exactly fill the space where the tank cover was.

The Holden is nearly ready to get certified , a few little tweeks of the motor controller.

It doesn't seem like an off-the-shelf industrial motor, rewound or not. Any details on the motor?

Great to see the KiwiAC controller being used.

The only of the shelf parts are the stator and the rotor.
I had the stator rewound to 80 Vac at 50 Hz
Made patterns for the casing of the motor and gearbox and had them cast in ali.
Used the Holden rear coupling and the second gear epicyclic and made a park brake.
Very happy with the performance.

Pete that is the most impressive EV motor conversion I have seen in many years!

I also look forward to more information....

Do you have a blog or website on the project?

Nice choice of controller as well.

Good luck in getting it certified. But looking at your workmanship I can’t see you having many issues.

You have inspired me to think of another conversion!

Did you buy an off the shelf motor and pull the stator out, or did you buy just the stator somewhere? The transmission tail shaft is the stock one from the ute?

This seems perfect. If you offered these motor/gearbox assemblies, people would buy them, no doubt. A FWD version would see even more demand.

Bought an industrial motor but only used the rotor and the stator lamination's, and yes the tail shaft is stock Holden.

The only other Holden part is the epicyclic gear that is shrunk into a casting as below ....

The park brake gear

The rest of the park brake, the only reason for the linkage to the gearbox is to engage the park brake and provide and indent mechanism.

The diff is 3.1 :1 and the gearbox is 3 :1

Volume pricing for the motor is still a work in progress (which is the goal). One off pricing is roughly $US 8,700.

Yes, the motor control is FOC.

Did you simply make it up or was it related to the 1926 trademark Reddy Kilowatt?

If so, was Reddy Kilowatt marketed as a brand in New Zealand??

I remember being a big fan of Reddy growing up in Canada....

Btw another cartoon character Willie Wiredhand setup in competition to Ready Kilowatt and court cases followed! These cartoon characters where set up to sell an energy intensive lifestyle and tried to convince electricity consumers to use as much energy as possible.

I lived in Seattle for a few years, there was an old power station building I used to cycle past, long since defunct. The Readykilowatt Power Co.

Always thought it was a cool name.

A friend here has the same car with the petrol engine in so good for a comparison.
I would say acceleration is about the same as the 2L petrol a bit less over 110 Kph.
But have not done any actual measurements.

Was lucky with the ratios in the gearbox that second gear that I drive every where in has the peak power at about 85 Kph, but dose not drop much until over 110 kph.
Has very good acceleration in first gear but that is limited to about 80 kph, only use first for carpark ramps.

Very happy with the car overall and am regularly doing 185 km to a friends house on one charge easily.

The SKAI unit is no longer being made, there is the SKIP but I don't know the cost of that though.

I think it has a different connector and is 24V.
