Hello everyone, we are planning a visit to Perth in April and were wondering what there is to do EV-wise in or around the city?
We are planning to attend the AEVA meeting on the 14th.
Do I remember reading somewhere that there is an electric bus in the city?

Just a Volvo hybrid electric diesel in the Transperth bus fleet. Is that the one?
It's fleet number is TP2245 and it is on any one of the 4 CAT bus routes...

I figured out that I was thinking about the hydrogen fuel cell busses. A bit of googling tells me that this was a trial that ended in 2007.reecho wrote: Just a Volvo hybrid electric diesel in the Transperth bus fleet. Is that the one?

They were electric busses whose 'battery' was a hydrogen fuel cell.
Shame it wasn't stated correctly in the trial. Many folk thought they were ICEs running on hydrogen ... shame they didn't rip the fuel cells out and fit lithiums at the end of the trial.
IIRC, gov spent $16M on the four busses. Great support for a new trial technology. The same hasn't been repeated with electric cars.
Oh yeah, welcome to Perth in April 4springs.

Oh THOSE buses.
1 is in preservation at the BPSWA
Not operational as Ballard Power Systems removed the full cells after the trial.
Details....

Had a great time in Perth, met some of the locals and even had a ride in an iMiEV!
The AEVA meeting was interesting, as was the format - arrive an hour early to chat.
Among the things that we learned:
* Perth is huge, but still under construction.
* Perth has an excellent public transport system that the locals love to complain about.
* It rains in Perth 6 out of 7 days.
* Perth tap water tastes terrible. You'd think with all that rain it would be better.
* The Freemantle Quokkas would be a good name for their football team.
* Perth people are very polite - they thank their bus drivers at the end of their journey.
Thanks to all who made our trip very enjoyable! Meeting locals is always better than just seeing the sights. And a home-cooked BBQ makes a welcome change from restaurant food every night.

Bahaha, that is so true (about the public transport).
About the rain, it's purely coincidence you were here during the long spell of rain. Definitely unusual. Although it is extremely welcomed if this is due to climate change (i.e. does bring more rain to perth).
