No more Zoe in Australia

I think the Federal government should own this - it's lack of EV policy has meant no incentive to sell here.
But Renault is also killing the Clio, suggesting they simply don't sell the products people want to buy here. At $50,000 it was easily the most overpriced EV on the market.

The linked article within that (here) says it all really:
Emissions standards are usually set by government, but reporting for the new Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) CO2 Emissions Standard will be driven by the car industry.
...
SUVs accounted for 45.5 per cent of the Australian new car market in 2019, compared to 29.7 per cent for passenger cars, and 21.2 per cent for light-commercial vehicles such as utes.

Bugger, I was thinking that a ZOE 50 that could charge at 22 kW on 3 phase AC and DC fast charge may have been a good option for me.

Only 64 sold in 30 months and I have one of them. A few left in showrooms.

Biggest selling electric car in Europe (outsold Kona and Model 3). But absolutely not in Australia.

We will end up like Cuba with all these fossil fuelled cars that can't be sold anywhere else in the world.....

Of course, in Europe, car manufacturers can only meet the more stringent emissions regulations by diluting their total mix with EVs.

Here in Oz, our Federal Government will do anything to badmouth EVs and promote emissions generating activities.

Roll on the years of worsening weather, bushfires, rising ocean, extinct species.....

We just bought one of the last Zoes available here, last week a few of them went up on carsales as a ship had arrived with a bunch of them that were delayed due to covid. Combined with Renault running them out, the dealers just wanted them gone, so we got it for $36k plus ORC. We are waiting for it to be delivered...

Yes, we had been waiting on something to come along and were considering a second hand Leaf, but a brand new Zoe at less cost was hard to pass up. Just hope we don't have any of the problems that have been reported here by some owners.

Will update the appropriate thread soon
But we still love Zoe (when she is working)

Yes, well, given we got it so cheap, we've decided that if it plays up, it gets fixed under warranty then probably gets sold, we most likely won't lose money on the deal, or not a lot anyway, but fingers crossed, it will be reliable.

How do you know Chris? Is there a story there?

I think I recall you had trouble with a loaner car, but surely they're not all going to have trouble with 22 kW?

That particular car (the one with the decals on the side) was the one we drove to Esperance and had difficulty charging.

Hi Chris, I know you had the demo Zoe that had a charging fault. Mine also developed a charging fault (would not charge at all). However, I have frequently charged at a real 22kW as have other Zoe owners so there is not a general issue. Of course, when you get over 90% it starts to drop somewhat. I've previously published figures on this on the AEVA website and there are also graphs available from overseas. So, as long as there is not a specific fault, Zoes have no trouble with 22kW.
Incidentally, regen is an impressive 40+kW. Someone in Europe connected his solar panels (nominal 400V OCV) and charged at over 5kW through the spare regen connector under the hood. Kind of DIY DC charging.

Incidentally these new Zoes being 2019 will likely have Android auto and other things not on our 2017 models.
Cheers,
Dave

Decals have since been removed.

Will be interesting to see if the Zoe 2.0 can be imported under the SEVS scheme?

But perhaps it’s good that it got axed.

Watch out for lack of local warranty support if you import a vehicle.

Well, we just heard from AEVA that there are some Zoes available here in Launceston, so we are looking as to whether we can get one of those, dependent on whether the VIC dealer lets us cancel (not holding my breath on that one), would rather buy from a local dealer.

If the VIC dealer lets us cancel, will post here as it will free up a Zoe for someone in VIC...

Have you physically got the car Bryce? If so how if you are in lockdown and cars can't be delivered or picked up? At least that is what I am being told for the last 6 weeks.

Yep - they did a 'contactless delivery' via a tray truck. Came from an out-of-lockdown country dealer if that makes a difference ...
