What's the deal with ChargePoint?

Post by eevblog »

New EV owner.
I noticed that some places have ChargePoint charging stations so I went to sign up at the recommended link: chargepoint.com.au
But that shunts me to the US site. Australia is not on the country list. When trying to register Australia isn't a country option. Managed to spoof it with a US postcode and had Oz support for SMS registration, but then doesn't have Oz support for confirmation payment texts and further setup.
What's the deal here?

Thanks
Dave.

I don't recall having any issues. I may have signed up via the app, not sure if that would make any difference or even if the app just opens a Web browser

More than a bit I think! [ Edit: thanks for the link. ]

Thanks again, Coal Lobby. And no thanks, Federal Government. That includesLabor when they were in power; they did nothing to encourage EVs eitherr. Though they haven't been in power much since 2011 when EVs from the major manufacturers started becoming available.
There are currently approximately 100 ChargePoint units in Australia with the majority centred around Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, which consist of a variety of AC destination chargers and DC 50kW fast chargers.
That puts into jeopardy many of my local charging stations. Ick.

Oh wow, thanks for that.
Guess I'll just shut down my cobbled up US account then.
