I had some time to play with the 3D model this arvo. I question its accuracy, it seems maybe 5% out, but as a proof of intent it's sound.

I grabbed the mounts off the subframe (purple) and moved them inboard to (a) see if it clears the drive unit and (b) determine if the mounts can still be picked up with chassis structure. The good news is, both seem true.

Just the real subframe, brake to brake. I couldn't justify having a drive unit sitting around for X-number of years before I needed it. I have a known-accurate 3D model, I'll build one out of wood for setup. It came out of a write-off in Sydney, 2014 (MY15) dual-motor Model S. Someone posted the Gumtree link on the AEVA FB page, the stars aligned and I now have it under my house.

Assembled to make sure everything was there.

Brembo 4-piston calipers and Brembo park brake. The loom for the park brake is attached to the subframe and Google turned up a pinout, that means I can re-use this.

It has me excited for the project again. It helps not only having a supportive wife, but also some really supportive work colleagues (including mechanical engineers offering to do FEA on components I need to fabricate).

So cool and so green with NV for your EV.
Recipient looks very cool.
Can you just use it at the same track width (Wide track is always cool), I'd even say its easier to stretch a body than it is to narrow a drive train. (Worked many years agon with stretched and widened Range Rovers to UAE)

In a nutshell, no.
The Model S is 1964mm wide, my pickup is 1928mm wide. While that's only 36mm, the Telsa also has no wheel offset which looks terrible on older vehicles. At a minimum I'd need to widen the rear guards 80mm-ish each side which would totally muck up the proportions of the car. In addition (under the hot rod build guidelines) I'm limited to a 10" wide wheel which further compounds "weird" look. Finally, having a rear track 226mm wider than the front will compromise the handling too much.

As a hot rodder it's really very easy, we're used to fabrication like this.
In the coming weeks I'm going to have the subframe and suspension 3D scanned so I can build an accurate model to design a narrowed subframe to suit.

Nice truck, , totally missed this thread .

Have been looking for a '49 Pilothouse Dodge for my wife for about 25 years and finally a decent one turned up in QLD, been parked up in a shed for 20 years. Still waiting on it to be transported back down to Vic then I'll be able to figure out what needs doing.

And due to the success of my '73 LandRover EV 4x4 Conversion we will keep the Dodge outwardly original but convert to EV of course, this time I won't keep the gearbox but use a Planetrary reduction ( thanks for the Prado TC gear idea Francisco - I'll be in touch) then a driveshaft into rear diff. Will be a Local runabout , 100kmh / 100km range will be fine.
