Fonzarelli X1 - 13 kW motor!
Apparently it's got a 13 kW hub motor, top speed of 100 km/h and a range of 150 km.
They also have their regular Fonz scooters which run a 72 volt Li-ion battery and a ~4 kW hub motor.

That sounds a bit more like 125cc power than their current bike. Probably good for freeway commuting in the morning grid lock but still a bit short when there is no traffic.

Sounds pretty good.
Most of the generic brand hub motors are sub 5kW.
There are no regs on power for an electric scooter it's only an imposed speed limit.
So unless it's limited to 60kph (depending on state) it can't be classed as a scooter.
So it would be registered as a motorbike and you would need a motorbike license to ride it.
10 years later than a Vectrix.
I guess something had to fill the void.

So the short answer is NO but the long answer is YES.

Matt might have better info but the Vectrix had a similar top speed but had a peak of 20kW (50% more power).
I'd be surprised if the battery weight had that much difference.

More likely battery power, or the lack of it, from the original Vectrix pack.
Yes, this would be registered as a motorcycle, but only an RE class (LAMS approved).

The 60kph limit is for mopeds. Scooters can be any power or speed, but are licensed the same as motorbikes. Aprillia make an 850cc one.
I beliive the current Fonzarelli 125 is over the speed limit and requires a license already.

Re: Fonzarelli X1 - 13 kW motor!
I wonder what capacity the battery is
I'm always leary when manufacturers quote range, more so on bikes.
The range at 40kmh is irrelevant, its the one at 100kmh that matters
having said that, now that we're able to fit 16kwh in a bike, even 200km range is possible

My ICE bike only has a range of 200. It does recharge quickly though.

Re: Fonzarelli X1 - 13 kW motor!
I was at Close Motorcycles yesterday getting my rego check done and Fonzarelli have moved in next door. So I asked about their new scoot and they said it was 2-3 weeks out. I'll try and check back when they have it in stock. I wouldn't mind taking it for a test ride. Maybe I can take some photos and share them here.
I want to support them because I believe in the end goal of getting away from fossil fuels but I really hope they can keep the price under control.

Re: Fonzarelli X1 - 13 kW motor!
Took the two slower Fonzarellis for a ride today...
8.5 kW hub motors.
Moped model is limited to 55kmh and is pretty gutless.
The unrestricted one goes alright but maxes out at 80.
Good fun, although it doesn’t handle all that well.

What would a Vectrix go like with a 16kWh lithium battery pack? Range?antiscab wrote: ↑Sat, 09 Dec 2017, 17:44 I wonder what capacity the battery is

Around 200km at 100kmh
There's a fellow who actually did that, by putting in 3 x Tesla 5.5kwh modules in.

I have an X1. Range in city driving is about 60 km. I have got it up to 80km/h max.

Re: Fonzarelli X1 - 13 kW motor!
Funny, my Vectrix has the same range. But a higher top speed: 100km/h, and it feels completely at home at that speed, like it'd be happy to do more. Heaps more storage room as well.
