Ha ha my neighbors are the local criminals so I found it easier to point it at them
I recently upgraded my old analog system to the 1080p poe IP cameras.
I wouldn't recommend anything less now
Ah not true...
If you have $5k you can get one of those dual thermographic HD IP POE cameras.
..Sorry for your loss.
Did you check any further than the path?
The may have ditched it all at the park further down the road.
So the short answer is NO but the long answer is YES.

I don't currently have a system and I have a personal preference for wired over wireless, so if I was in the market I would be considering this system:
FLIR MPX Series

Sorry to hear about this, bunch of pricks
Mobotix are amazing but pricy
I use Hikvision which are pretty good, and can be had for around $125 per camera from aliexpress
reecho appears to be using them too, that screenshot looks familiar

I got my stuff from fleabay
ELP brand cameras <$100
Super mini NVR <$60
Can use HDD or cloud blah blah...
Could get away with 2.5" USB + USB hub if backing up with thumb drive.
Best is WD Purple 4TB or seagate surveillance eqv on esata
~$300 gets a 1 camera setup with possible upgrade to 8.
Mine's on a UPS as the power lines like being hit by lightning and power drops out for 1-2hrs here and there.

Forgot to include in my first post - NESS are another brand you can look at. I've installed a number of these over the years and had good results with them.
If you're concerned with image quality, spend the largest part of the purchase cost on good quality cameras with adequate resolution. IP cameras can suffer with image quality as the image is compressed at the camera, so check sample footage of the different solutions to see if you're happy with the picture.
