Australia’s first electric supercar!

Post by manlytom » Sat, 14 Apr 2012, 01:39

Hi,

this review gives some idea on performance:
http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/ ... 91239.html

and in general the discussions on:
http://electricmotorcycleforum.com/boar ... ic=1915.45

other than Zero it seems not much going on at above forum. might be that Zero is the only bike that is real, and here.

anyway, for Australia, we need to get it first properly here.

29Hp is definately 250cc territory

interesting to see they have implemented field weakening to reduce power drop of at high speed

I do see what you mean about lowish starting power

given it has a 420A controller, system voltage would be 72V?

I wonder if the controller is manufactured by sevcon....

hmmm, it would be interesting to take one for a test ride, but I will probably save my ducats for a roehr, or a different bike if one comes out with similar power (I want 25Hp at 30kmh, or better, with at least 50Hp at 120kmh)

I very much agree with saving money vs a new 250 btw

I used to own a suzuki across (250cc I4, 35kw at the wheel)
it used to use 5.4L/100km no matter what I did (which was really odd)

I now have 43'700km on my Vectrix, and it costs me $550/year to run (17'000km/year)
That number includes rego, insurance, tyres, electricity, etc
I will break even at ~100'000km

I would expect the same of the zero DS

Hi Matt

guess we are getting off topic to first eletric superbike here .... in this section.
we migth start a new thread on electric motorcyles.

To you question about controller. Zero uses the Alltrax controller and in the 2010 model we could just plug in and play with it. HAve not tried that with the 2011 and they say it is "locked". guess when warranty is up - unlock.
The 2010 had chain drive and I changed the sprockets. got more of the line accel and lost a bout 5kph on top end. but more fun that way.

well no its not but threads so tend to stray off topic

its funny the mods can slap me for something but when a bunch of people post stuff that is not OffTopic of the thread they ignore it hmmmm

threads wandering off topic is usually ok, they tend to be more like on-going conversations. This happens most often where the original topic conversation has "died out".

basically to get moderated you have to start calling people names, or start talking about things that are specifically off topic like perpetual motion or zero point energy

selling stuff in threads that are not relevant is also a no-no
