Re: MG ZS EV
Has anyone with an eZS had the opportunity yet to check out Tesla destination charger compatibility ? I've generally avoided those things as too much hassle to be bothered with, however it would be nice to know if they are usable by an eZS in an emergency.
Re: MG ZS EV
I don't think anyone in Australia has a MG ZS EV yet. I spoke to City MG in Sydney yesterday and they say they have some sitting on the dock at Port Kembla. I'm in Perth and our sole dealer doesn't have any concrete news at all. AFAIK with Tesla destination chargers, some will work some won't. Maybe the best way is to have a look at Plugshare and look for checkins with vehicles other than Tesla.
Re: MG ZS EV
There have been at least 100 delivered to those who paid a deposit up to a year ago. I chose to let someone else have the one with my name on it so I can get one with 2021 compliance plate. My issue with destination chargers is not whether or not someone with unlimited patience has managed to convince the thing to work with whatever car, but rather if they work with an eZS without the need to leave a pile of hair on the ground. I have used a couple in the past but not without considerable messing around. In all probability i will never need to use one again, only interested as a plan d.

Moderators, I think it's time to create an MG section. This car will sell well and discutions will increase very soon.

Re: MG ZS EV
It seems the MG has arrived with a 15 amp granny charger supplied, so customers will have to wait for 10 amp units to arrive. The dealer informs me that the cars will not have a type 2 to type 2 cable in the boot. Does anyone have any suggestions for where in Perth or online I can get hold of a cable?

Re: MG ZS EV
I posted about one in this post (first link).
Or from Australia with a 1 year warranty: Jetcharge online store. You're paying for four heavy wires in the cable when you only need two (only a single phase charger in the ZS). So it may be possible to find a slightly cheaper cable with only the wires that you need, saving a little money, weight, and bulk. Like this one.

Re: MG ZS EV
I test drove a white MG ZS EV yesterday in Sydney (Sat 22nd Nov 2020).
The EVSE in the boot had a 10A plug. Didn't check what output it supports as it was wrapped in plastic but likely 6A or 8A based on posts I've seen in the NZ ZS EV facebook group. Definitely not a 15A EVSE.

Bugger, you would think that they would have the most recent software installed, seeing as the cars have just left the factory.

Mine is the Pimlico Blue. How about the one you ordered? I haven't looked into front sensors. At $749 I will stick to my usual guesswork and do without. I haven't looked in to tinting yet. For a type 2 cable I might grab one from Gemtek, they sound like very decent people.

Re: MG ZS EV
I picked up the car this morning and drove about 40 km. home. Everything looks great, lots of safety gear. MG Pilot worked well on the freeway keeping in the lane and staying a set distance from the vehicle in front. I now have it charging on the Zappi wall charger in eco plus mode where it is taking on surplus power from my 6.600kWp solar system. All said it is definitely living up to expectations.

Re: MG ZS EV
There's one in the Hobart MG showroom! (Surprising since I thought they'd sold out of their entire first batch of stock nationwide to the pre-orders, but they may have had some set aside as demo cars)

Re: MG ZS EV
@Chuq my understanding was that 50/100 preorders were made.
Hopefully once people get in them they’ll be sold.
Watch out for possible corrosion tho in moist areas of Australia.

Re: MG ZS EV
I went to have a look at one today. I went to the Kedron dealer and the service was really bad. The guy was like "Are you going to put a deposit?" Then I said I would like a test drive. I can't tell you without driving it.
Then he goes "are you going to put a deposit if it drives ok".
I just told him I wanted to compare a few cars first. So I told him I would go and try the Hyundai first and come back if I didn't like them and left.
The attitude was very poor. Never he tried to say anything about the car other than the plug is at the front and you have to put a deposit and wait a few months if you want one.

Typical story of car dealer not wanting to sell an EV or even bothering to learn anything about them.francisco.shi wrote: ↑Mon, 30 Nov 2020, 13:19 I went to have a look at one today.
