Mini Cooper E

Post by wovenrovings »

I see the Mini Cooper E is being sold in Australia. Website says price is $34 870. That must make it about the cheapest new EV available?
Has 230 -260km range too...
Has anyone see one on the roads here?

Um, that seems to be the price for the petrol version. I'd say the electric might be a tad dearer. Perhaps the price isn't even settled yet. I doubt that there is stock in Australia as yet.

But I hope I'm wrong and your're right :P

Current guesstimate for the mini e is $55000aud.
Even so at that its not too badly priced considering its a bmw i3 with nostalgia factor (which is $70k car)

"The claimed driving range is up to 270km, but 230km on the European WLTP driving cycle.Given the target buyer is a city slicker driving that many kilometres in an average week, the balance seems appropriate."
I thought that equated to 1610km or more per week before you need to go to the service station, or fast charger.

2020 Mini Cooper SE / Electric - $59,990 drive away

Post by g4qber »

Perhaps a new section of Cars needed?
I.e. Mini?

$59,990 drive away

Went to Mini Garage, Burswood, West Australia
Eugene, Mini Sales manager says 90 Mini e’s allocated to Australia
On Previous % allocation there possibly will be 6 for WA.
4 EOI’s for now so 2 left to order.

4 Colours
A) White Silver
B) Moonwalk Grey
C) Chilli Red
D) British racing green
All same price.

Online ordering was mooted due to COVID-19 should dealerships have to close.

I'm probably being a bit pedantic here, but aren't Mini's made by BMW these days?

Made by BMW, using BMW platforms (i3 in this case) and BMW parts and often sold in BMW dealerships with spare parts being supplied by BMW dealers and BMW wreckers.

My personal vote would be a separate Mini section to help with searching but moving to the BMW section also works (unless minis become super popular)
Or leave it here, it is "other" after all

We already have so many forums, I'm reluctant to splinter them more. I suppose we could create a Mini forum as a sub forum of BMW, but I don't like sub forums where I come across them.

What do you think about renaming the BMW forum to "BMW and Mini"? It's still reasonably short.

Agreed, the motorbikes/scooters could all be condensed into a single forum as well. Possibly with sub forums for each brand but even just lumped altogether.
But that's probably a topic for somewhere else.

Considering Porsche, Audi and VW are all part of the same conglomerate, I reckon you can fuse them.
Likewise, BMW and Mini can be joined, as can Nissan / Renault?

Hmmm. Perhaps I'll wait on the sub-forum experiment, see below.
Likewise, BMW and Mini can be joined, as can Nissan / Renault?
I'll resist with Nissan/Renault, since a divorce seems as likely as not in the next year or two.

I've renamed BMW to "BMW and Mini", and created sub-forums Mini and i3. All other BMW posts stay in the "BMW and Mini" parent forum. We'll see how much we like or hate the subforums. I note with approval that you can see the BMW sub-forums at the outer level, so you don't need to click twice to get to the i3 forum, for example.

If we're mostly in agreement in a few weeks that this is a good idea, I can consider more mergings and sub-forums. For example, "VW group" with "Volkswagen", "Audi". "Porsche" subgroups, with maybe even sub-sub groups for popular VW and Audi models.
