Day 3 drove to Kalbarri. ...
Is that a Juice Booster 2 EVSE (not visible in the photo) allowing you to charge from that random looking GPO (15 A?) on a tin box you happened to find in the outback?
They seem pretty handy, though at nearly 10% of what I paid for my second hand EV, it's hard to justify at present. It makes more sense with EVs like the Kona that have a reasonably powerful on-board charger.

MG ZS EV 2021 April 2021. Nissan Leaf 2012 with new battery May 2019.
5650 W solar, 2xPIP-4048MS inverters, 16 kWh battery.
Patching PIP-4048/5048 inverter-chargers.
If you appreciate my work, you can buy me a coffee.
1. Can you get a factory tow bar? Or indeed any tow bar? With electrics? Approx price?
2. Can you get roof bars? As it seems the same as other non-EV Konas, I assume the answer is yes?

It is a Giger from EVolution, a Juice competitor. I chose it as I have had positive and efficient experience with the team at EVolution. It is more compact too but doesn’t come with the various adapters that the Juice-Booster 2 comes with.
It is a 3P32A socket. Next to visitors centre in Kalbarri. They have made it available for free. But, as always, ask before using. This also makes the council aware of the need.

I am not sure this is correct. My car, a Holden Volt, not a Tesla, is, right now, as I write, successfully charging on a Tesla destination charger with that exact same part number 105007-02-J, via a type 2 to type 1 adapter. What was explained to me is that there are internal dip switches that can be set at the time of installation to 'legacy' mode, which works for all vehicles or 'Tesla only'. I have tried about 8 different Tesla destination chargers with my Holden Volt and have yet to find one that doesn't work.
Daihatsu charade conversion 2009-18, Mitsubishi iMiEV 2013-2019, Holden Volt 2018-2019, Hyundai Kona 2019-2023, Hyundai Ioniq 5 2023-present on the ACT's 100% renewable electricity.

Very interesting. I suppose it is best not to drive past without an attempt at them all!
Wow, great to see a forum area with actual posts and to see all the Kona owners!
For those newbies, I plan to do an in depth review of the Kona that covers a lot of items that wouldn't normally be covered by CarSales or the likes.
I actually haven't seen a bad review on the Kona yet so I'm not going to waste time retelling the same thing everyone else has done but rather get into some of the nitty-gritty.
There is quite a lot of things you learn over time with this EV so I thought it might be a good idea to build everyone's knowledge up a bit earlier.
Hi there-on that topic: have submitted a 3 month owner's review of the Kona electric for the next Renew magazine. Should be out next month.
Cheers
Bryce

I got my Kona Electric (highlander) last Friday - and loving it. I haven't done those long distance runs yet, but coming from the 2003 ICE's.. it's a huge step. Learning charge stations, cables, and all.
Just thought I'd wave my hand to say I've finally made the switch!
Oh, to JD, if you're in the SE of Melbourne, I'm happy to drive past and let you have a look at it - instead of just watching youtube reviews
Welcome! Enjoy the EV Grin as it develops. (Due to no more tailpipe pollution, the ability to wean off fossil fuels, and the stunning ride that all EVs give you. )
Cheers

Welcome Satyros !
I'm new to it all as well. Got my Kona Highlander only a month ago but have clocked 4000km already due to my job (Field service engineer travelling all over Victoria). I'm sure that like most of us you have followed and learned the Kona on YouTube, but if you have any questions, this forum is fantastic, and if you want a face to face one day, I'm in Upwey. You might spot my Blue Kona on the road or at the closest charger to me, the Knox City Council ChargeFox one. Not a great charger as it allows for 7.6kW but as soon as another car plugs in I go down to 2.5kW. No idea why. It is the only charger I have tried that does this. Frustrating. Apart from that, the Kona is one of (if not) the best value/performance/range for money EV in Oz, and I have data to prove it
Enjoy and see you on the road some day.
Cheers,
Patrick

Hi
thanks for great info! Kona EV certainly a fantasitic car, just waiting for fast recharge stations to be installed in Tassie so that i can make the distance on trips at night, in the cold when the demist function and reduced efficiency of the battery chews away at my range!
my question relates to towing ....has anyone got more information on which aftermarket kona tow bar will fit???........hyundai had agreed to install the kona ICE towbar to my Kona EV (with a clause it wasn't for towing but for my bike rack) but when they went to do the job they said it was 'half a bolt space out due to the beefed up suspension of the EV'.
thanks for sharing!

There's now another ceramic blue Kona on the roads. Picked mine up from Lakeside Hyundai, Caroline Springs yesterday, and have hardly left the cockpit, working out instrument panel and 8" screen. What a delight.
Still experiencing a little range anxiety until my first, regular 270 and 351 km rural freeway journeys have been initially overcome.
I need to get over the ranges and into headwinds, and arrive, before I am fully relaxed.

Disclamer: I am a fanatic. Hardly ever use climate control (I'd rather wear a beanie than loose range) and I drive like a grandma.
At least my grandma. Don't want to offend any racing grandmas out there...

That sounds like the bolt space just needs to be drilled out. maybe to a bolt twice the size for good measure?

That’s sensational. Don’t think my other half would put up with that for long, or I have the patience. But very impressive figures indeed!

On a serious note, you have managed the match the NEDC figures. That is crazy good.

Sorry, off topic.
I was looking for a good place to have sushi yesterday... Found it !
I asked why Sushi Kona but the workers had no idea. A Japanese Google search returned a not very romantic definition of: flour, powder or dust.
Dust is the only one that makes sense as I sometime leave people in mine
