Does it have a spare tyre?
Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info
I think only a Tyre Mobility Kit. (Tyre sealant and compressor.) No spare, no jack.

Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info
So my car is in bond store. Hyundai are delaying releasing them for a couple of weeks. The Iron Man special edition cars were on the same boat and they turned up at the dealer yesterday. Gggrrr...
Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info
Some more teaser images sent by dealer. I assume demo vehicles. NSW registered. No update on availability.

Yeah... they have a bit ground clearance and lighter handling.

Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info
I think you have a smiley missing from that statement.
While Hyundai have produced two hydrogen models (the Nexo and the discontinued ix35 FCEV), I don't believe that any of them are Kona models, or look like Konas.
I assume your light hearted comment is based on how hydrogen is lighter than air, but of course fuel cell EVs compress the hydrogen to hundreds of atmospheres, so the hydrogen is no longer lighter than air.
The Nexo looks like this:
That's an overseas model, though Hyundai have promised "to supply 20 NEXO fuel cell vehicles to the ACT Government as part of the Hornsdale Wind Farm project".
Edit: I should have quoted further: "It is expected that deliveries of these vehicles will commence in early 2019."

Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info
Hi Reecho,
A question about colour, as I have a deposit on the Ceramic Blue. We stopped by Hyundai yesterday to see the colour in real life, and it is much greener than it looks online. You mentioned a silver option in your thorough description, and "Never" has posted pics that appear to have a silver car in the Kona electric. On the Hyundai website, the only colours listed for the Kona Electric are red, white, ceramic blue, galactic grey (which I saw at the Bris ev expo and hated) and dark knight (dark grey).
Can you shed any light on this colour mystery?

Are they heat pump or resistive cab heating?

Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info
The story I got about the delay was that it was due to an issue with the GPS navigation system.
There is no homologation delay as can be seen here:

Homologolation and certification are two different things.Murbs wrote: ↑Wed, 20 Mar 2019, 09:45 The story I got about the delay was that it was due to an issue with the GPS navigation system.

Anyhoo....
Pricing will be announced Friday and embargo's will be dropped. My stirring seems to have got an "on sale in a couple of weeks " response from Hyundai.
A leaked review video shows the GPS working fine on the production cars. This was filmed last Saturday.
Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info
Wow.
I wonder how many prospective buyers will be running a ruler over those prices before deciding to look elsewhere?

I think lots of people will be looking back at their Model 3 options...

Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info
I’m definitely back to the Model 3! Crazy prices!
Our dealer quoted me just a few dollars change out of $70k for a Highlander, which you need to get for even LED headlamps, which IMHO should be across the range.
Even our Mitsubishi PHEV has that- I could not go back to Halogens!
They have lost us.

Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info
The Model 3's lowest model is likely to cost at least 60 grand here anyway, which is comparable to the Kona's lowest model.DavdN wrote: ↑Tue, 02 Apr 2019, 14:30 I’m definitely back to the Model 3! Crazy prices!

$50k-$70k looks like it is still the entry level price for EVs in Australia

Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info
And finally.....
Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info
Goulburn is an exclusive recharge station to Tesla only....JUST GOT MINE LAST WEEK, VERY HAPPY WITH IT WENT FOR A LONG DRIVE TO GOULBURN, I'VE SENT AN EMAIL TO GOULRN TOURIST INFORMATION CENTRE, HERE IS A COPY.... Hi Lesley
Further to our conversion yesterday (ref: Goulburn is an exclusive recharge station to Tesla only), I have found a portable fast electric vehicle charger online and Goulburn would benefit from the extra EV Tourism.
The online store I've that offers the portable charger that has just being released and it allows cars like mine -the Hyundai Kona to receive 120Km of charge in just sixty minutes
the chargers are available from https://evolutionaustralia.com.au/produ ... p-to-22kw/
and the only hardware expense for your organisation is installing a 32 amp 3 phase wall socket, If I may suggest installing more than more one as EV's are on the increase and becoming affordable e.g the Ionic and of course mine, the Hyundai Kona with a 450km range
Best Regards
Monty Tortorella
Note: you could purchase chargers to resale and recoup some of your outlay by selling them at a small profit.
Just to be clear I have no financial interest in this Matter
