Hi guys,

The latest generation of EVs are being shipped without home charge cables. For those not in the know, these allowed you to charge the car from any normal power point.

If you're willing to roll your own, I'd recommend getting one of these

Still need to put an Australian plug on it, and around 6 weeks shipping time.

Oops, I take it back. Turns out China has their own standard which uses connectors that look the same as the type 2 mennekes units.

Hi all - would like to add a note of caution that built-in RCD protection is listed as 'optional'. IF you were thinking about ordering one - you must order it with Type B RCD protection.

As for switching 16A currents without a decent sized relay to be seen - seems to me a rather unlikely candidate for a long-lived, reliable item.

BTW, certification of electrical equipment for Euro conformity seems dodgy to me: date of 'first fixing of CE label' is 2012, and only refers to the cable - not the actual constructed lead!!?? Mind-you they do add a small asterisk to note that it applies only to the lead, not the whole item. That makes it SO much more trustworthy ....

All-in-all, not sure I'd 'touch one with a 40 foot pole' (preferably an insulated one too) as the saying goes.

Cheers
Bryce
