IS IT POSSIBLE TO ADD ANOTHER LAYER OF BATTERIES?

Post by Randall679 »

I'm just far enough from Melbourne to need to stop for a 40 minute quick charge along the way. Is it worth considering sacrificing some of the boot for more batteries?

You would need to add to the cell groups underneath the car too. That may be challenging to impossible

Matthew/antiscab ... Did you really create a plug-in Gen One Prius? That was a dream of mine ever since I saw the film WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR. I was told it was a waste of time.

Another stupid question: I saw the UTS developed plug in Prius many years ago, and it was also a PLUG OUT ... you could use it during blackouts or camping. Would that be possible with the Blade?

The battery in my plugin prius was too small, and died prematurely. It is possible, but cost prohibitive sadly.

The uts prius I think is for sale second hand. The batteries are getting on a bit. There's been an issue with testing cells similar age to go in as a replacement.

As for plug out with the blade, yes possible. Depends how much power you want and what you want to do with it.

Just thinking out loud again: I wonder if a Prius battery pack could be sat in the hatch/boot just for long trips... and taken out for charging and when you're just going around town ...
