Regardless of how 'you beaut' the Tesla might be, its beyond the budget of most of us. I could afford a Mitsubishi (although its 99% unsuitable for my needs) or with a bit of scratching, a Leaf, but anything double the price of a new Leaf is not what I regard as cost-effective.

I don't mind $28,000 but given my particular location I really need a genuine 200k range. That bumps the price of a Blade conversion to over $50,000 and the batteries leave no space for more than two passengers & maybe a small briefcase. What really should happen is the Wacky Wabbot administration provide meaningful assistance to reduce the cost, however discovery of frogs feathers or rocking horse droppings is infinitely more likely.
