Leaf cells

I used to have access to the for sale section of the forum but it seems I am now blocked. Anyone else have this problem?

Will do, once the mounting method for all the modules is sorted, it shouldn't take too long.

here's a photo of the new modules and the old cells. The CALBs had top levelling strips but no active BMS, by the time I'd noticed they were out of balance the damage had been done (to some). They will likely be re-purposed for a 48V house system.

Edit: that IMG embed doesn't seem to work: direct link

It just randomly occurred to me that I never reported back.

Car has been up and driving for 6 months or so now. Electrically, all has been great.
I have a mechanical gremlin (drivetrain vibration) I haven't been able to solve just yet - and a busy uni semester and family addition has limited my time to look in to it. I suspect I may be up for a new gearbox - as such I've got my controller set ultra conservatively and haven't yet pushed the batteries! Sag is much less than with the CALBs though and the car is driving great.

Car needs a wash and detail and some terminal covers, I'll post some photos after that. Very happy with the leaf cells though. Easy to work with.

i just found this looks interesting

Nissan Introduces $2,850 Refabricated Batteries For Older LEAF

the other interesting thing i have just come across is, my house mate has a relative in japan and is in the car import and export business and i have just asked him to look in to viability of importing ether the battery packs of if needed the full cars

and i was just thinking if you replace the battery pack before bringing in the cars hmmm

what do the cells go for now in Aus?
If you don't have time to do it right,
When will you have time to do it over

I guess landed at my door $165-180ea.
But since there is low availability this has driven the price up a bit.
So the short answer is NO but the long answer is YES.

There are 48 in the original leaf.
But I have 40 for my conversion due to voltage requirements (20S2P).

i found a company in new zealand who is willing to sell nissan leaf modules and send to australia, but they have to be purchased in lots of 48 module - which in turn is 1 complete battery pack, they are around $130us single buy, so buying in a lot of 48 would be much cheaper,
would anyone be interested in a group buy , , i have been told we need to organise our own customs import company , has anyone purchased from abroad before and dealt with this ,

That is about the same price that Nissan claim to be selling new packs for replacement in existing Leafs.
Do know if they are new or used?

Although I do import volumes of stuff none of them are dangerous goods.
Last time I found it still cheaper to let Suzi Auto import the batteries.
Perhaps you can let him take over that aspect.

What we really need is a Nissan dealer to get them in to sell it but turn the blind eye about which car its going in.
New cells.
Good price.
No import issues.
