Had to rub finger on it.
I wonder if this also occurs on the leaf

Hiya,
There is a thread on GM Volt.com about the camera..
here is the link...
http://gm-volt.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-52889.html
Go straight down to the 14th September .
You may want to print off the part number section of the thread and take it to your dealer.
I havent had a problem with mine, its manufactured date is January 2013. Maybe I just glance at it and dont expect a lot from a reversing camera.. first car I have driven with one. I find the "beeps" handy when reversing. .the sensors seem to do their job just fine.
Yours may be manufactured earlier..
If the lens is dirty - - just clean it
Hope you are enjoying yours !
Cheers. .Marty

The wife's Honda Insight sometimes gets blurry in the rain. I like the VW Golf idea where the boot insignia powers open to reveal the camera.

Hi Johnny.. Yep that seems like a good idea!
Another thread including the part number for a fix on the Volt camera is here
http://gm-volt.com/forum/showthread.php ... oat./page4
To quote from that post ..
"It's brighter in the day and at night you can actually see behind you, not just a tiny white triangle. You need to ask for "rear camera assembly 22883286". No charge under warranty"
Not sure if you actually need this at all, or its just in the rain.
Next time I go to the dealer, I will see if they have a 2014 model in, and have a look at their camera.. I doubt if they wil lhave a 2014 in for while.. .probably 2014 around March , by the time it is shippedout from the US...
Let us know how you go.
ps. .@Johnny.. being involved with software, and having your own EV, have you had a look at the Volt and its software at all? IF so , what do you think?
Cheers.. Marty

Mind boggingly complicated and scares the @#$%^ out of me. Modern cars generally scare me.marty11 wrote:ps. .@Johnny.. being involved with software, and having your own EV, have you had a look at the Volt and its software at all? IF so , what do you think?

lol
probably running windows, hence the bugs & freezes
although to be fair even the VW has issues
eg. sat nav was slurring
that is one thing that is possibly putting me off the model s; preferring the roadster.
hopefully they are running linux.
ford seems to run windows.

Re: reversing camera blurry in rain
Here are few tips for this issue:
Keep your camera lens clean - Before you start driving, make sure to clean your lens to remove any dirt, debris, or water droplets. Use a soft microfiber cloth to gently wipe the lens and avoid using any abrasive materials that could scratch the lens.
Use a water-repellent coating - Applying a water-repellent coating to your camera lens can help prevent water droplets from sticking to the surface of the backup camera. You can purchase a water-repellent spray from your local auto parts store and follow the instructions on the label for application.
Adjust the angle of the camera - If the camera lens is facing directly towards the rain, it may be more prone to getting water droplets on it. Try adjusting the angle of the camera slightly to reduce the amount of rain hitting the lens.
