Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
Yes, I have thought about it. Stuck with Paceway because they are doing it under warranty so "free" but I suspect I have paid about $500 in rego and insurance for a car I can't use for 6 months now. Not even quite sure what the process would be to get it back when they have put in a $4000 charger but still haven't fixed it.

I understand Mike and it's tricky when they're part-way through the job. I believe evShop can do warranty work on production EVs so it may be worth giving them a call if you get to the point of giving up on Paceway.

More so because it is not under the factory warranty, they are doing it as 'goodwill' warranty, which might make it harder to outsource.

Mike:
With the spare I-MIEV I have as a test bed, I've even tested that the car can still drive and go to "READY" with the charger not even fitted to the car. You get the coolant error, and Aux battery charging error, but the car still goes to "READY" and can drive. WARNING MCU will fail if this is tied for too long due to no coolant. If paceway is now getting errors that prevent the car from going to "READY", that is a new fault they have introduced besides the original charger fault. Hope they did not do something silly like unplug the High Voltage safety plug while working on the charger, then forget to plug it back in (under the passenger front seat). Or plugged t back in but did not fully engage the leaver when fitting it back. The DTC Error code for this reports a HV Safety Switch not activated. Would really like to know the DTC Error codes they are getting.

That is interesting. They haven't told me it doesn't start, just didn't answer when I asked if it did.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
I have found that they are still able to drive it in and out of the workshop, so seems to be still the original problem of no charging.
Latest update is Mitsubishi Aust have asked them to go through about 5 pages of tests checks and send the results, and they won't give me a copy of said results.

Sigh!
Why do businesses think it is such a good ideal to be so secretive? It only makes one think they have something to hide.
IMHO, it's your vehicle so any data generated from it also belongs to you. The most they could do is make you sign a non-disclosure agreement on the grounds of protecting commercially sensitive information.
However,I understand that you don't feel in a position to argue as the vehicle is out of warranty.

I've used test procedures from dealers before and 5 pages probably amounts to check the 12v battery is charged

I think he was saying 5 pages of results, not 5 pages of procedures

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
We may be nearing a resolution. Paceway say they have narrowed down the issue to a wiring concern. They say they have performed a dummy fix and seems to be all good, but still another few weeks wait for the proper replacement parts.

Good news!
I wonder if this was the original issue? Or one introduced in the change over?

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
Do you get the cat back in the meantime? Or are they going to hold on to it until the parts come?
Edit: yes I want to know about your cat, not your car. I assume paceway are holding it ransom...

They said they want to hang onto it. They have provided us with a near new (but not EV) ASX loan car, so can't really complain.

Well, you can complain that it isn't an EV, but no-one is likely to take any notice...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
Paceway just called and said our i-MIEV is fixed and charging with no errors. Very happy to hear it. They say will do a few more checks and test drive so we should get it back early next week.
I'll ask again whether I can keep the failed charger when picking it up (if they even still have it).

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
Mike, are you paying for the repair or is it being done under warranty? If you're paying, then the failed part belongs to you and they can't take it from you. When my Outlander PHEV traction battery was replaced (as an Insurance job) recently, Rockingham Mitsubishi initially said I could have the old one when I asked, but they were then overruled by MMAL who said the "damaged" battery was dangerous and needed to be destroyed.
I pointed out my consumer rights and after getting me to sign a letter saying I understood the risks from the battery, they acquiesced and I now have the cells (all tested fine!) from my old battery pack.
If they say you can't have the part, tell them it belongs to you and under Australian Consumer Law, they can't steal it from you.
Cheers,
Rob Hills

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
It's under warranty, no charge, so I figure they are entitled to keep it if they want to. But if it is just going in the bin, I'd be happy to "dispose" of it for them.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
I have the i-MiEV back! Still nice to drive. Paceway have serviced it and cleaned it up nicely to make up for the 7 months in their yard.
Unfortunately my wife has moved on to another car, and we don't really have space for 3 cars so I now need to sell it.
I asked about the replaced charger, but they told me it has been sent to Mitsubishi.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
I have the invoices from the dealer now, and it looks like it was just the charger and the MCU fuse replaced, so pretty much the standard failure, just delayed a lot getting parts from Japan.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
So whatever the last problem was, it didn't result in a line item on the invoices. So maybe they just forgot to plug in some connector, or maybe it was a real short or open that they could fix with off-the-shelf consumables.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
No, the last thing was the fuse, they mention that their diagnostics process did not suggest checking it, although I think others have said that manual does. I thought they said they had checked it much earlier, but may there have been some confusion over which fuse.
