Singapore is an ideal country for Electric Vehicles. Commuting distances are not that large. Owning a car is very expensive in Singapore. You pay for parking. You pay COE (Certificate of Entitlement). You pay extra fees once the car is over 10 years old.
I can see a lot of potential with the smove model. I hope the residents embrace it.

Currently, one can still hear the cars during the night, even if you are on the 20th level of an apartment block so imagine how quiet it will be if they all had electric cars.


The cars that ate China - I thought it had a bit of Fast and the Furious at the start and end. From a pollution perspective, that is a country that really needs electric cars and electric vehicles.

There are some interesting things are happening in China -

Almost 30,000,000 e-bikes will be sold in China this year alone, and 200 million in total, an astounding number, so the car of the future may have 2 wheels, at least in China.

This gave me some cause to be optimistic about the future.

Closer to home, in addition to an e-car, we also have some e-bikes which have proven themselves to be a very effective form of transport. The 200 watt motor sounds a bit feeble, but is sufficient to make hills and headwinds a complete non-issue and allow trips of 10 to 15km to be done without raising a sweat, even with a pile of shopping in the basket.

Nice video. Did you notice at 4:49 the Captiva - it had a Chevy badge. What is interesting is that around 20 years ago, I don't think Chevy was officially sold in Singapore. There was Holden and Opel with more Opel cars than Holden cars. I think they still have Opel in Singapore.

I remember many years ago reading something in a Singapore car magazine about the VL Holden Calais. It had a 2 Litre 6 cylinder engine (probably a RB20 from Nissan) where as in Australia, it was the 3 Litre (RB30 from Nissan).

When a Ferrari engine needs to be reconditioned, it is very expensive. If you want an Electric Ferrari (& let's face it, who wouldn't), look for one with a blown up engine and you could probably get it for significantly less. Then proceed to convert it. My favourite Ferrari would be the F355 with the 6 speed manual. The motor is mid mounted in a longitudinal direction. Some earlier Ferraris had the engine mounted transversely.
