LEAF as Home Battery Storage

Post by eevblog »

So this thing that you'll soon be able to use your LEAF as home battery storage is pretty cool.
But this article says it could cost $10,000 :o

What the heck? How is that in any way going to be viable?
What's the deal here?

But $10000 won't get you much of a normal home battery.
Not saying it's specifically worth it but look at the competition, it's not that bad

Given hybrid inverters are available now that can take a 400v battery, it won't be long before all you need is the hybrid inverter, a comms box and a $1000 2nd hand leaf battery

It's massive price gouging because they think they can.
Home battery storage costs a lot because the batteries cost a lot, not the electronics, which is all that's needed here.

Don't get me wrong, I agree it's way to much for what it is but I understand how they came to that sort of figure
