Hi

I'm in Melbourne have recently purchased a LEAF. Had an iMiev previously...

Can people suggest 1, which is the best Android App for connecting and do I need to register with Nissan first or do I just need the VIN? I tried previously but didn't get anywhere?

Thanks
Cheers, T.

Yes, you'll need to register with Nissan to get an account to access your Leaf. Then you can login with an email address and password via one of the Android apps.

For Android, the Nissan Connect app works well as does Leaf Manager to connect to your Aussie Leaf. If you want more detailed battery info you can get an OBD bluetooth adaptor and get info via LeafSpy Pro or the free/cheaper LeafSpy apps.

No luck, I work with computers and own several websites but this app and registration is terrible.

My phone is connected to the car but it doesn't pickup that link in the App.

I've registered but can't choose a LEAF. I wasted about an hour trying to figure this out and am very frustrated.

Yes, it's not the most intuitive system to setup or use.

When you say the phone is connected to the car but it doesn't pick up the link in the app what do you mean?

Can you login successfully with your credentials at https://owners.nissan.com.au/portal/

That will allow you to confirm if your credentials are working OK.

Try logging in at the web address I provided.

While I use the Nissan Connect Android app I have never logged into the Nissan Connect site you listed and my login credentials for the Leaf (used in the portal site and all Leaf apps) don't work at that site (I just tried).

Thanks for your help, I'll give Nissan a call on Monday to register as there isn't anywhere on that page to register and my NissanConnect login details don't work there.

I just talked to Nissan today to register my Leaf. The support was really good and had me logged into the sites within a few minutes.
Owners portal uses the email + password, as does the NissanConnect EV app on my Android phone.
You also have to register CarWings in the car. Press the Zero Emission button on the dash, select CarWings and update the settings. This registration uses a code you get from Nissan, something like N12345678 + a password. Essentially this activates the cars mobile phone service so it can talk to the Nissan servers and use the SMS capability of the car.
So far the App has let me see the status of my Leaf, but it has failed when I try to start climate control remotely. Not sure if there is still a problem with a security flaw found several months ago, not too good if Nissan has not fixed that problem yet.
Anyway, so far pretty happy with this solution and the Nissan support.

Nice to hear. I also spoke to Nissan and they sent me the CarWings number N201xxxx and pw.

I tried entering the CARWINGS details into the car and pressing Activate but I keep getting a verbal message that says:
"connect to information centre"

So I rang Nissan back and they said bring the car into a dealer to check.

Interesting. Currently the car uses Telstra 2G mobile network to connect. Nissan support told me they are changing to 3G soon, but also told me the car does not need to go in for a service call to make that happen. I don't think that makes sense to me as the mobile phone module or the SIM card also would have to be 3G capable to use 3G.
In any case, maybe there is no Telstra 2G service where you are. Telstra is phasing out 2G at the moment, you could easily test that by telling your mobile phone to only use 2G (assuming you are on Telstra and your phone has options to restrict band usage).

Yes I thought the same re. 2G coverage but I checked the Telstra 2G map and I'm ok, plus I've tried in a few places.

Nissan lied...The Telematics would need to be replaced to continue after the 2G network is shutdown...
