Nissan doesn't warrant this product.
I asked at northside Nissan. Graham Corcoran got an email reply from Nissan.
Use at your own risk of voiding warranty.
This also goes for the ampfibian.
Overload protection works. I tried drawing 12 amps and the unit shuts down after 2 mins.

they would have a *very* hard time voiding the warranty over using a 15A to 10A lead adapter - basically they would have to prove any damage done was the result of the adapter, which is nigh impossible
Nice to know Nissan don't have much in the way of experience with electricity.......kinda like vectrix back in the day

bumping an oldish thread here....
i took a new Leaf for a test drive this weekend, and im now hooked.
one will be in my future, it's just a matter of time.
can anyone here confirm that this device will safely charge a leaf from a std 10A socket ?
i will have a 15A socket installed in the garage, but this would be a mighty handy thing to keep in the car for an emergency top up if it were required...

It should work fine to charge the Leaf on a 10A outlet. Although the unit we have doesn't trip charging a 2010 iMiEV which draws 12A continuously but g4qber's trips after a few minutes.
Been meaning to try charging the iMiEV on the 15A to 10A outlet again and gradually add more load and see how many Amps it actually trips at.

awesome. thanks for the confirmation.
can't wait till i can get into a leaf.
the test drive really convinced me.
i had wanted one as soon as i heard about them, but the asking price was too high. now with the current pricing. it's much more affordable.

Does any one have any detailed info on the difference between the 2012 & 2013 Leafs in Aus? I'm trying to compare the pricing on a 2013 demonstrator Vs a 2012 with 0km but it's difficult to get hard facts on the exact changes between models.

Tested it today and it took 15.7A before it tripped the circuit breaker! Only left it on 13A a minute or so and kept increasing by 1A at a time.

I want to agree with you. Electric vehicles are fairly a new hobby and very few repairmen are able to deal with it. Having no insurance from the manufacturers is a really big threat. However, if you are already assured with the ability of the seller, then, you should also consider buying.

Do you have a problem with me, buddy?

No disrespect but if I am posting about the Milky Way Galaxy when the discussion is about cars, then, that's the time you can tell that I'm a bot or a spammer.
I can't believe it, being a newbie in this forum, I already have a forum follower like on Twitter.

Let's be friends, buddy. This is a good forum.

when you are talking about things nothing like the topic heading and saying what seem to be random words that are sort of car related

and yet another random comment?

Is the 2013 leaf really here?
That would be amazing
A) 6.6kW charging
B) heavier steering
C) slightly more range 200km - Japanese rating
D) darker upholstery
E) Bose energy efficient stereo, similar to volt
F) more boot space, due to inverter combined with motor and moved to front
G) no more engine rocker cover trying to make the leaf look like a conventional engine bay
H) stronger regen
I) less rare earth metals used
Can't wait for it to get to WA

No that OS model not here till end of next month. As near as I can figure out Nissan Oz is calling it the 2014 model? I guess, by implication, the local 2012/2013 models I'm trying to compare are 2011/2012 on the overseas web sites?

It really depends on what the price difference is for 2012 vs 2013.
The new motor has slightly less torque but a slightly wider power band than the old one but it's hardly going to be noticable.
The main range extension to me is the reverse-cycle cabin heater in the 2013. When we had the one on trial for 3 months it was through winter and wife (demanding that she be "warm as toast") usually dropped the range by about 15% daily with the heater.
To me the 6.6kW charger is a non-event. In 3 months we never charged anytime but overnight - same with the Vogue now.
A more "efficient" car sound system - really?
I have no doubt that it's improved but what are those bells and whistles worth in dollars?

Good points John, although I do like the reverse cycle heat pump & extra regen on the upcoming model. I can't seem to squeeze the local dealerships much below $35k on the 2012/2013 models, who knows what the new one will come in at?

pricing for those who don't do their shopping research.
costs $24.95 postage on top of the $110 to ship to Perth.

I bought mine from Jaycar and it's served its purpose very well. A few dollars cheaper, don't know the shipping cost to Perth:

indeed I have one already, just was researching alternative units.
mine seems to allow 14 amps through.
previous unit was clamped at 10amps.
but interesting to see how some companies can make a quick buck from those not in the know.
