Hi,

A quick update and an invitation to a BBQ in December.

Octobers Meeting we had a speaker from our own ranks, Jim. Jim brought in his bicycle that he converted to electric assist using model airplane LiFePo batteries, BMS and chargers. I thought it was a well designed package and neatly done, the bike was practical and reliable.

Novembers Meeting was very well attended , 30 or so I think. We were fortunate to have Peter Casey from Energex as a guest speaker and by the quality of question time I'm sure a lot was gained from the evening. The website that he mentioned was: http://www.yourpowerqld.com.au

Decembers normal Wednesday Night meet has been deferred to SUNDAY 16th Dec at which time we are doing a social BBQ 11am till 5ish. The location is "The Plantation" at Gumdale which is an outdoor picnic/sporting venue. Bring some fold out chairs in case we run short.

http://www.rlssq.com.au/ then click on Facilities and "The Plantation".

Check the rules section as some items are not allowed ..

The Committee will be cooking up a storm with a free BBQ, snacks and soft drink provided. The club will pay the entry fee for financial members only. Non financial members are very welcome, but we ask you to pay your own entry:

The cost is: Children (2-12 years) $4 and Adults (13 years+) $6. (If you join AEVA before or on the day, entry will be free)

We'd LOVE to see members, and non-members, and of course we want you to bring partners and kids along.

There are pools available for swimming, so bring your swimmers, sunscreen, a towel and a hat to enjoy the day. There is also adventure playgrounds, some free some cost a few dollars - check the website for more information regarding what's what.

We tentatively booked for 30 but hope so see more there. We definitely need to know numbers no later than Friday 14th Dec. This event is meant for all to come socialize.

Please EMAIL US if you are coming so we know how many to cater for. We will send Financial members their entry pass (let us know when you email us if you are financial) and we will send everyone coming more info about where we will be etc.

We also have a few power points there for the cars by special arrangements - so IF you're bringing your EV let us know so we can earmark a GPO for you (first in best dressed). We may even pop the hoods and have an impromptu EV mini show.. :-)

Cheers Graeme Manietta

For those with E-bikes, or proper bikes, the venue for this Sundays gathering is a pleasant 3.9 km ride from the Thoreside railway station. There is a bike path along Rickertt Road, and the ride along Chelsea Road is quiet with little traffic.

To return, either go back to Thornside, or continue along Chelsea Road at Rickert Road and take the bikeway across Lota Creek. Follow the bikeway to the Lota station or continue along the Lota, Manly, Wynnum foreshore bikeway and catch the train at one of the Wynnum stations.
