Seems a motorist is green with envy over an electric mountain bike going faster than his car up a hill.
I'm sure he would have preferred being stuck behind a gaggle of cyclists 5 deep going slower than the speed limit.

Belco Way is a sh*t of a road. It backs up from arsehole to breakfast at 7.30 am and stays that way for hours. So any power assisted bike, which obeys the road rules, is a welcome addition in my mind
Oh, and some of the comments are obviously coming from envious car drivers... How else could you reserve such disdain for such a good idea?

Probably if he hadn't worn the hi viz vest and the dirt cycle helmet he would have gone un-noticed.
Mind you he prob wore that helmet to muffle the laughter and hide the eV grin

Well for me a high powered ebike is more versatile than an electric motorbike. With an ebike you can cruise the bike paths and pedal as hard or as little as you want.
Then you can go offroad on trails that motorbikes are not allowed on. Though you could get away with riding an electric motorbike in these areas too because nobody would even know you were there.

"Electric bikes? Doesn’t this defeat the objective of cycling (to keep fit)?"
What, and getting places isn't why you ride a bike? Morons.

As a coincidence I saw an e-bike rider this morning doing 65kph in a 60 zone.
I could clearly see the large hub motor on the back.
But on closer inspection there is also a small hub motor on the front too.
Damn that cyclist going faster than me and taking shortcuts!
I bet he was getting fitter than me sitting in my car
An electric motorbike would be ok if you needed to travel on hwy/freeway.
But on local roads and e-bike would suffice.
Electric motorbike is likely to be 5x - 10x the price of an e-bike so not much help if your intent was to save a bit of money.
Then you also have to get a motorbike licence.
An intermediary option would be to get an electric scooter.
Most of those don't come out of the factory able to do 60kph.

Faster than a speeding car
What caught my eye was in this 25km/h zone , the car reporting this horrible crime was travelling a little over 60 km/h.
I mean how terrible for a quiet non polluting vehicle to be doing the exact same thing that this car was doing........
They posted the particulars of where this horrible offence took place , with a mug shot of the CRIMINAL , what they didnt include was the the particulars of the the reporting motorist - you know , just so he could share in the PUNISHMENT.

Cheers , Glenn... I am working toward that happy " I never stop at Petrol Stations " feeling :)
