I built this bike in 2000 and fitted it with a Currie and 24V LA batts in '02 It has been through a few sets of batteries and I upped the voltage to 30 V with an extra 6V connected in series in '03 The top end performance improved from 28Kph to 34Kph. Have recently fitted it with a Magic pie motor from Golden Motor and 48V lithium ion phosphate batt. It has regen. braking and cruise control (very nice) I fitted a front disc brake, no back brake connected yet. Performance now is 47Kph (on flat no wind or pedalling) and I will be interested to see if there is improvement when I fit the front and rear fairings. I think 47 is way quick enough round town, any more would be dangerous. I'd post a pic if I could find a way to get it to 100Kb

No pic
Make sure it is in jpg format and 640x480 is well big enough for a forum.
Use paint or picture manager(MS office) to resize.

So the short answer is NO but the long answer is YES.

Hi David,
The forum has wacky problems sometimes.
Try renaming the file to something simple (lower case letters only) e.g. bike.jpg.
cheers

Thanks Woody,
On my way to work this morning I came off the bike. The combination of a small narrow front tyre and a disc brake on the front was not conducive to good adhesion over a wet white line. Fortunately I was only doing about 25 not 45. My round trip is 20 Km and the LED battery gauge still says I have full charge after getting home, although I'm sure it's closer to half.

My handlebars being steel were relatively heavy so I decided to make new ones in alum to reduce weight. As the steering stem is quite long I ended up with some flex. It made the handling awful, like driving a car with really sloppy steering. Because of the continual flexing the aluminium broke (fortunate,y at very low speed) and it's put me off the road. Lucky I wasn't doing 47, that would have been interesting having no brakes or steering at that speed. I've been way too busy building pizza ovens to get around to fixing the steering problem, but will certainly get it done during the coming holidays.

this looks an ideal commuting vehicle. How safe do you feel when motor vehicle traffic is around?
Do you feel that they " actually see you " .?
Cheers, Glenn.

Have fitted an airhorn. My riding height is about the same as a normal sedan so I eyeball the drivers.
