has anybody built a EV with one or two hub motors.I see on a few china sites that they make them in 15kw 3 phase. it would make an easy conversion.or are they just useless ,as I don't see anybody talking about them

You would need four of them to make the vehicle run well, and that means four controllers all talking to each other. It's certainly possible, but definitely not simple. Ripperton made his Dihatsu Mira with a pair of hub motors, but eventually went for a single motor and differential. Check out the build log here:

Thanks for that ,a lot of reading,I don't think i would attempt to use a hub motor away from what it is designed to do. way to much messing around.(that was an engineering nightmare ) I was thinking to put them on the rear wheels of a front wheel drive.I like the idea of the jumbuck.as they are now 15kw maybe 2 would be enough.and the jumbuck has a trailer axil at the back which would make it very easy to install.
