Blade electron, moved to a new home

Post by antiscab » Sat, 18 Nov 2017, 21:07

[*][*][*]Hiya,

So I have a mk6 blade electron with a failed motor and or controller.

I'm looking to give this car to someone who can repair it.
Currently not registered, but as it has a secondary compliance plate, so no issues there

The mk6 electrons have a 100S lifepo4 320v 60Ah battery, Orion bms, 60kW ac motor and controller.

I have a few theories as to why it no longer works. It will need someone skilled in trouble shooting power electronics.

It may be an issue with the encoder, or it may be a failed igbt.

Message me through here, or at mc.lacey@iinet.net.au or give me a call 0401557291

So more background information, I have another identical electron (both were given to me by a very generous EV enthusiast). This one works well, but is developing the same vibration at motor rpm above 4000rpm, which when sustained results in momentary power loss.

This is the same failure more the blue car exhibited before getting progressively worse and ultimately resulting in the power loss being permanent. The motor max rpm os 12'000rpm, so my suspicion is a mechanical mis alignment.

I'd prefer to give the dead car to someone local, so that if we get to the bottom of why it failed I can hopefully prevent the white car from falling too.

The blue car has a separate issue where it had far lower torque. I suspect the motor controller lost a phase. This is a separate issue, though

Normally I'd probably put my hand up as this is my job...
But I already have so many other things I should be doing.

Wouldn't it be better to fix the problem and sell it as a working ev?
I'm sure I owe you a couple hours of labor anyway...

I'd love to fix the car as a working EV

TM4 came through with the goods yesterday, and sent me all the documentation they had on this particular drive train

I have the data cable to the BMS, I can safely rule that out as the cause of no power.

The momentary loss of power events lasted ~300mS each according to my not nata certified bum feel

The other possibility is a connectivity issue between the tritium driver controls module and the motor controller.

Update, car is now working again. I traced the problem back to a loose connection between the tritium driver controls and the motor controller.

Fixed the connection, fixed the car.
Took me all week to track it down

I'm still looking to move the car on to someone who will appreciate it, though am now hoping to make back roughly what it cost me to ship it over in the first place ($1300), though am open to offers, particularly if you happen to be studying electrical engineering or similar

Seats 4, aircon works well, 2 x 2kw Tc chargers, takes j1772 input, or plugs into normal gpo, remote central locking, Orion bms (Pre wired to work with a Bluetooth adapter and the torque app)

Will need registering, and new tyres
