Can't look any more stolen that way. Good camo for your neck of the woods :)

Not too much progress over the weekend but I did get most of the way through the 2nd half of the pack.

Certainly a stealth battery pack install using an otherwise wasted space. Will you need to fit any cells in the back area as well, or will all the cells fit in the side pods?

The whole lot is installed the 2 side pods. 2x 48v 150ah (13s3p) packs, one down each side and wired in series giving me 96v150ah (26s3p) total.
I've done up the cabling (mostly) as well now so I had the motor turning. On a side note I think the cable speedo is going to drive me nuts, it's horrendously loud

Very cool! Granted your build is far simpler than the Prelude, you beat me to the wheel spin up by a few days!

Thats awesome. So did you take the bulkheads out of the side boxes? Including the bottom out of the original battery box?
I asking because if that bit is still good it could be useful for me. ;)

The majority of the floor / inside of the pods is a custom made job from the guy before me so unfortunately it wouldn't suit any other mokes.
The top, sides and ends of the side pods are intact. I cut a big rectangle in the bottom of the pods and then cut/ground all the inner partitions out. The battery packs then get jacked up into position from underneath and bolted in place.
So the view from underneath is this

Each pack takes up the whole length of the pods with about 15mm to spare at the rear
And the top/sides looks like nothing much has happened. (other than my daughters zip line across the roll cage)

I'll have to make up new sheets to cover the bottom of the cells and reseal the side pods.

It would have to be 4WD so you could take on the off roaders as well as hill climb boys

Put a Tesla drive train on front and back and it will upset any petrolhead on the road.

2 tesla drive units probably weigh more than the moke shell although that would make a great power to weight ratio, but unfortunately I suspect I'd get in, take off and fry all 4 tyres in an instant...
Reminds me of the go-cart I made out of a subaru ej25.
Custom frame so it was basically an engine, gearbox and diff with as little holding them together as possible.
I kept the all wheel drive but I cut the tailshaft down and welded the 2 uni joints together. It was quite a sight.

Look at the baby tailshaft

Just at idle the thing would tear off like you wouldn't believe, let alone putting your foot down...

Been doing a lot of panel work lately. Mostly filling the literary 100's of holes that had been drilled in it for the roof and lights and who knows what else.

But I'm finally making progress and started painting it in primer/filler. Although the contents of the can was old and lumpy so my gun kept blocking up. Then I transitioned to a degrease gun, that stopped the blocking up and put the stuff on thick however I foresee a lot of sanding in my future.
This is where I ended up after the weekend

After much sanding I'm almost ready to start putting paint on. I was hoping to get the first coat on this weekend but I was engrossed in playing around with a new toy :D

Had the day off today to play dad while my wife went to work. In between the screaming I gave up sanding and filling holes /divots because I have no patience for that and decided to get a few layers of paint down.

It doesn't show well in the picture but the paint isn't that dark and has a metallic finish
Also my work boots now sparkle from the overspray

What colour for the roll bar and the front? Certainly looking good but much harder to hide it or get a guaranteed no block in parking spot. They know you won't risk scratching a pretty paint job, but the recycled urban camo look certainly give you lots of parking room and makes the other driver think twice about cutting you off
Really notice the difference between driving the taxi orange Prius and the pretty silver Prius, before the taxi orange one had a cut and polish drivers would think twice even if they had right of way
