Was it common knowledge that "sports" car makers are "enhancing" the engine noise inside the cabin. BMW, VW, Ford US, Porsche + Lexus are mentioned - the Lexus one has a volume knob!

The Porsche one seems the most legitimate (the induction pipe is connected to a diaphragm to the car interior when sports mode is activated).

I have a soundracer which works quite well in many cars.

Hi Richard,

I got mine ages ago at around $US150 including postage from Sweden.
Mine is the basic model without the amp - so I added a separate amp and placed a weatherproof speaker under the car - where the exhaust box used to be!

You can put your own sounds into the unit, they supply software to do this.

Image Image Reminds me of a cold air intake mod i did on my Lada Niva. Measured various spots to locate a higher pressure zone for the intake with a manometer. Settled on plumbing it into the cabin air intake duct at the base of the windshield! Hehe that made it sound grunty in the car! Not very safe though when it occasionally backfired starting the ICE and filling the cabin with smoke and unburnt fuel! Image Image
