Ah, brushless DC. I was thinking brushed, series DC.
It so happens that brushless are another option that I am considering. Though I think I'd like to hold out for the hybrid (as in part synchronous (=brushless) PM, part (un?)switched reluctance) motors, as used in the EVme. When they make them affordably, of course. Maybe that has to wait for a future conversion.

as some of you know i do talks at the sydney AEVA branch meetings. i'm doing a talk on motors next tuesday and i'm bringing a special guest along with me.
i'm bring the very motor they used in topgear to show (yes the kostov). i'l also bringing a 7 inch ADC, i should have a 9inch ADC and i'll bring a small AC motor.
if anyone has a motor bring it along to add to the colection.

BTW anyone who wants a kostov, I’ll be completing the updates to my site shortly including all pricing on ADC, the kostov range of motors, curtis controllers and many other wonderful and shiny bits and pieces.

With these shy types, you can often use the dropdown on the author name (edit: above the atavar/icon), and use "Visit member's homepage". It might not always be there (that's really shy), or might not go where you want, but that's how I looked at Nakey's home page.
That echo battery box is puuurdy (as in pretty, beautiful)
I wonder what it's like to work and weld with stainless steel. AI imagine that every hole you have to drill is a pain.

You have to use cobalt drill bits (which still dull very fast with stainless).
The welding part is fun however stainless warps like the enterprise after Patrick Stewart says, "engage".
You have to tack it every 25 to 30mm or about every inch. When welding you have to start at one end, weld about 100mm or so stop and start at the other end to help avoid distortion. But if you have a tig capable of pulse that makes it fun. Perfect welds, minimal heat, and in some cases no wire.

Just put the http:// in front of the www. It's a common error. A pity that the forum software doesn't just "do the obvious thing".
