Busselton works but with a bit of coaxing.

Augusta and Donnybrook don't work with i3.

Anyone know whether any change of plan with the current RFID tag for 2016? I vaguely remember Council starts charging for 2016 and the RFID tag need to be changed? As I'm planning to go down south 2nd January with the kids, so don't want any nasty surprises when I use the fast charger Image

The councils are free to start charging for electricity, but I doubt many of them will. You'll be safe on the 2nd of Jan Image However contact Patrick Finnegan about the new tags for 2016. I reckon the logging will mainly be used to track demand, plus if there's ever a problem with the charger, they can track down last user for any information on how the problem occurred (charging at 50 kW for 40 mins on a 45'C day might play a role in a diode failure, for example).

Donnybrook is operational, however we're not confident it's 100%. Might need to dial the power back a little for some testing.

Rac HQ was dead on Monday 28 dec
Repaired yesterday 31 dev thanks to Chris n mdk.
Same diode had failed.

CHAdeMO
Mdk tested with model s
Reecho tested with 2010 Imiev - got CCS error initially.

CCS
I3 had to be coaxed to work - Brb at least 2x.

Hopefully firmware update will fix these issues

So for those who aren't full bottle on all the terminology here...

If you turn up to a fast charger and there's an error on the screen, please take note of the error and let either Patrick, Matt or myself know. We use this information for troubleshooting.

Then, do a 'soft' reset of the machine. This involves pressing the big red button, often abbreviated here as BRB. Both beacons will turn red. Then follow the instructions on the screen - pull the button out and hold a 'stop' button down for about 20 seconds. The lights will go green and you'll be ready to charge.

If another error occurs during the charge, PLEASE take note the error, especially the last few digits of the error code. There will be a bunch of gobbeldygook but the last bit will say CS:07 or CS:12 or more often, CS:0 (which means, no error - just chucking a spaz for no clear reason). If you can, take note of any other details, like the timing of the fault, the ambient temperature, strange noises etc and we can start to piece together a solution.

If you have a BMW... Sorry. The CCS Combo Type 1 protocol is just problematic.

I'm claiming the title of the first family with young kids (a 4 and a 1.5) travelling to South West in full electric. I guess I have to add to the disclaimer that the travel was done in a non-Tesla as well Image .

Thankfully, all the charger were operational (only managed to use Harvey, Bunbury, and Busselton due to short holiday time).

Again, I can't thank enough AEVA, RAC WA, and all the city council involved so I can go to family holiday with ZERO cost of fuel.

The stop in Busselton turned out to be a good one. There was a local market happening at a time, and the kids were loaded up with Gelato (my guess from Gelato Buonissimo). I was impressed not being ICEd at a time, as there were lots and lots of cars looking for a park.

Several people enquired about the Leaf as well. Comments regarding "It's not that good for environment due to batteries" and "Oh, it's coal powered" did pop up. I have to reign my urge to contest that comment by citing white paper studies (i.e. use real number comparison) . Image

Awesome! I've heard a few folks say "Oh, but you couldn't do it with a young family..." Bollocks. Kids want to stop every 50 km anyway...

You're welcome! Just keep on using it! Now that Donnybrook is fully operational you have prettymuch the whole network covered.

Yeah, So it's OK for your air conditioned, mod-conned home to be powered by coal, but it's not OK for my car to run on coal? Anyway, the environment is usually 5th on the list of reasons why you drive electric. Behind, 1. It's cool 2. It's cheap and reliable, 3. It's clean, and 4. It's not running on imported fuel.

Although it's unlikely that you'd consult this forum over say, ABC radio for updates on the Waroona bushfire, I thought I might add this note all the same.

The South West Highway and Forrest Highway are closed due to the massive bushfire which has already destroyed the town of Yarloop and burnt over 30,000 hectares of forest and farmland. Harvey has been told to evacuate while Binningup and Myalup are in the firing line.

The Southbound music festival in Busselton has been cancelled too.

Needless to say, anyone planning on driving the Electric Highway will be out of luck, but the Forrest Highway will re-open in a few days time.

Damn that was a big fire Image It created its own weather system - pyrocumulonimbus clouds normally seen from volcanic eruptions and atomic bombs...

I would like to add that Samson Brook bridge has collapsed.
It is on the South West Hwy North of Hamel and South of Waroona so the distance between Harvey and Mandurah will be longer for a few weeks until Main Roads can replace.

Just to clarify Reecho's post for interstaters not familiar with WA Geography, his image above DOES NOT show the location of the actual fire, it simply superimposes the fire's footprint on Suburban Perth to put its size in perspective.

Last I heard (numerous hours ago) the fire had claimed nearly 100 properties. You'd multiply that by at least 1000 if it had the actual footprint showed above!

Yeah, that holster had been smashed up before the charger was even commissioned. Schoolies weekend I recall...

We stuck it back on with silicone and superglue, and I'm surprised it lasted this long. Just need to make a new one up and stick it on.
