I watch this event every year. Great to see an EV competing.

I think I read somewhere that they were using quick swap packs. I can't find the link I read before Christmas detailing the vehicle, if I do I'll post it up.

I admire the sentiment but it's going to take a lot of solar panels to recharge 140kwh of battery.

The solar panels are for the telemetry and security systems on the vehicle. If you look at the specifications listing on the link it shows the following:
Battery recharging systems using the electricity network: domestic charging port (220V), industrial connection (400V) and fast recharging system (50kW)
