So now the question of which driver and team I support has been answered: Matthew Brabham and Andretti.

Round 3 slipped by without notice - it must have been Christmas time! I didn't see the race but it looks like Brabham didn't go too well.

Round 4 is coming on 10/01/2015 in Argentina. This round sees the start of a support category for local schools to build and race an EV on the big boys track - cool!

Ok, so Brabham did go well until he made a mistake. Better luck next time.

I"ll wait to see how ALMS an IMSA handle electric sports cars . Formula E is making way to many rules an limits , I just do not like it . They should just go balls out for 20 laps . And fatter rear tires for the regen . I still watch it an it is kinda ok .
Life begins at 200MPH , cops make me fell like a Zombie .

I would argue that the pitstop, and the performance of the pit crew in that high pressure scenario, is a big part of motorsport.
I'll drive an electric vehicle one day.

They had round 4 (Argentina) on TV on the weekend(23/2) on channel ONE.
Lots of crashing into the wall and destroying the suspension.
There was no info about the car or drivers - just the race.
If a noobie turned on the TV and saw it they could easily mistake it for a petrol car.

It can add to the excitement, and it can just as easily make a close race boring as hell by having someone come into the pits during the heat of the action.

Too much pit action can take away from the driving excitement, I generally find fuel stops boring and in most cases completely unnecessary. Battery stops would be just as boring, but at the moment with everyone coming in to change cars, I find I lose track of what is happening on the track because they take so long to swap over and don't have continual coverage to see who got out in front of who.

Hi EV Community,
We are in the very early stages of development for a new electric car TV program and we am looking to cast some young male talent who know their way around electric cars, enough so to build one from scratch.
You would obviuosly also have to be good on camera so someone that can talk well and is charismatic. We are looking for 20 year olds to 35 year olds car lovers, enthusiasts, designers and engineers. The aim is to then race that car... it can be a stripped back formula 1 style car... All this can be discussed in further detail over email.
The type of characters I am looking for are:
Team Manager
Lead Designer/Engineer
Energy Expert
Mechanic
Driver
If you think that you might fit the bill, can you please send through your name, age, a picture and a short video of yourself (can be shoot on iPhone, even just saying your name, a bit about you and what you do/love in regards to EV cars) that would be great!

Myself included.
All the best for the project.

Now if you want a bunch of very clever middle aged men, well that would be a different story.

There was nothing about them in the story.

Admittedly, but heaps of stuff online elsewhere re the ebike racing scene. If I was 40 years younger I'd be very happy to throw a leg over a Lightning

The reality is that, even if some bold entrepreneurial type went to the trouble of bringing the Lightning to Oz, pretty much everyone would bork at the price and it would be a wasted effort.

Nice to dream though....

There are plenty of people who would spend 40 grand on a toy. It's being able to confidently deliver more than one that's the tough part. Lightning still hasn't made more than two bikes, to the best of my knowledge.

Balls out KLANGER of a thread HiJack there Milkmoney
Cant you start your own thread...get some etiquette.

Back on topic (eh hem) I think Formula E should have battery swap instead of driver swap but the way they have designed the suspension arms so flimsy maybe they should not expect too many laps from them.
The French drivers have really claimed their territory at the top of the field and watching Scott Speed whinging about being frozen out of the qualifying top 3 chit chat by Nico Prost and J E Verne speaking French was funny. " Hey come on guys Im an American, Speak English "
