Well there goes safety and aus compliance out the window.
I'm guessing this is a track bike only?!?
So the short answer is NO but the long answer is YES.

Zero motorcycles don't use an auxiliary battery either... They got through somehow.

Vectrix has no 12v battery.

Actually, no road ev bike has, aside from perhaps conversions

What voltage are most ev bikes? 48v? Because if so then that's low voltage anyway.
Also the 12v battery regs are for cars, bikes are a grey area on ev compliancing, so that's another loophole.
And also also what year were the bikes complied vs year the ncop14 was put in effect?

Vectrix is 125v nominal, though it is customary to put in 140v nominal.

The ego is 300v

Zero is 102v nominal

Shouldn't it look more charred?

I guess if the rationale for the 12V secondary system is to allow things like hazard lights and door locks to function when the drive battery is isolated, then it makes sense not to apply to bikes that don't have any of that stuff anyway.

ADR19 6.9 re the indicators used as hazard warning.
Seems there is NO requirement for the bike to be OFF and flashing.
ie the bike can be ON to flash unlike a car.

So there is NO requirement to have a 12V battery.
Other than isolating the HV traction pack.
But hey if they want 300+ volts running around the bike 24/7 that's their choice.

So I retract my statement about aus compliance.
Not safety tho...
So the short answer is NO but the long answer is YES.

A bit late to the party here - but if anyone is interested in an Energica Motorcycle, we are the official importer, distributor and dealer in Australia and New Zealand. We have the RS versions of the Eva Ribelle, Ego+ and EsseEsse9+ arriving in December. They will be on display in our showroom on Taree Street, Burleigh Heads from next month: https://australianelectricmotorco.com/

Great to hear! I'd love to take one for a ride when I get the chance.
I just got off the phone to Max Opray writing for the Guardian on electric motorcycles and scooters. We really need to see rebates and sweeteners being extended to two-wheeled EVs. So many problems are solved at once.

Thanks Chris! We will have all 3 RS Energica models available for test rides in our Burleigh Heads shop (3/19 Taree Street, Burleigh Heads, QLD 4220) once they are road-approved in April. For now they are available to sit on and have a look at ;) We're taking orders if anyone is looking to buy in Australia or NZ - current build time is 8 weeks and shipping time is also 8 weeks.

We're hoping to have demonstrator bikes setup in each State Capital via our dealer partners by the middle of this year.

Is 60 too old to get that bike licence that you did not quite get around to when your "L"s expired 40 years ago?

A quick update here - all Energica Motorcycle models are full volume approved in Australia which means they can be registered in all States here. This includes the most recent Experia model featuring the more efficient motor, upgraded 22.5 kWh battery, over 200 km highway range and superb handling/a beautifully balanced bike. We have the EsseEsse9+ RS, Ribelle RS and Ego RS models in our showroom here in the Gold Coast. They are available for test rides - you can book here: https://australianelectricmotorco.com/e ... torcycles/

You can also test ride the Ego and EsseEsse9+ at Zen Motorcycles in Sydney or BikeWorks Hobart or Rogue Motorcycles in Perth.

We have 9 bikes that are currently on the road here in Australia and 13 more are arriving this month. We are in the process of finalising our next shipment of Energica's from Italy - they should be landing here in June 2023. Here's some images of our demo bikes:

I think Enel (and most other shareholders) sold their shares in Energica to Ideanomics - they now own 70% of the company along with a number of other EV related companies like Wave and Solectrac.

Yes the Sport Black Ego is a pretty stunning bike:
