Well what a wonderful trip to Greenbushes, WA!
Massive thanks to Robyn Dean for organising this trip - a joint effort by the WA branch of AEVA and Tesla Owners of WA - a Farad of Teslas, two Nissan Leafs and an i3 took the drive down to Greenbushes to visit the Talison lithium mine.
This mine produced 30% of the whole world's lithium. Almost 75% of it will end up in a battery in your next EV. So important is this reserve, several Tesla executives visited the mine last week.
Spodumene is the hard rock ore which contains up to 6% lithium by weight. The mine is a very tight operation with some really good ethics driving it.
This is exported through the port of Bunbury, but pretty soon they will be refining it into lithium hydroxide (LiOH) next year at Kwinana!
Very cool trip, and massive thanks to the Town of Greenbushes for turning out for us!

Re: WA AEVA visit to the Greenbushes lithium mine!
Joseph and Larry warming their hands on the output of half a megawatt of Tesla Supercharger in Eaton (outside of Bunbury).
Ant and I drove back in the Leaf, just ahead of Glenn in the Synergy Leaf. Martin and Maria were able to get a reasonably fast AC charge at the same time
Good fun AEVA National President, WA branch director.
