Hi All,
Overnight, our AEVA web hosting was upgraded to new, faster servers. Unfortunately, this took longer than planned so some of you will probably have experienced site outages this morning and I apologise for that.
Both the Main AEVA Website and the forums are working for me now in WA, so hopefully the updates will have reached the rest of you.
If you can read this, but things don't look right, try doing a forced-refresh of your browser. For most browsers, you can do this by pressing the ctrlF5 keys together.

Reason: Doesn't need to still be a Global announcement after 6 months.

Re: AEVA Websites upgraded to new, faster servers
Hi All,
During the process of migrating our account to new servers, I also upgraded the phpBB platform this forum is based on.
Unfortunately, unlike previous upgrades, this one blatted the links to our forum images and the legacy smileys from the old forum. I've now repaired those links so images and old smileys should now display properly.
If you're still not seeing images and/or smileys, please try force-refreshing your browser (ctrlF5 will do this in most browsers). If it still doesn't work for you, please let me know by PM or reply below.
Cheers,

After the long outage yesterday and a much shorter one this morning, I thought I'd pass on part of an email from our admin, Rob Hills:
So hopefully, we're over it now, or at least the worst of it.rhills wrote:I had a reply from VentraIP this morning saying they had been doing some maintenance, upgrading one of the core systems because of a bug/vulnerability

My Google Chrome Browser still has a red warning triangle + Not Secure in the URL field. Not showing an https header.
Will this be changing soon?

Re: AEVA Websites upgraded to new, faster servers
Short answer: No.
Details: This is a leisure-activity forum, not a bank website. To host a legitimate, encrypted connection (using the https url prefix), we would need a legitimate, authenticated, security certificate and they cost $$ to buy and maintain. I personally don't believe that would be an appropriate use of AEVA member subscriptions.
If you right-click on the "not secure" icon you're seeing, you'll see that it provides a sensible warning about not entering sensitive information on this website (such as credit card details or passwords) and there is no need to use a credit card here. You should also not use the same password to login here as you use for any bank account or anything you wouldn't want to share with hackers. But I would strongly recommend to you that you apply the same principle to any website you log in to. If it involves money or access to bank accounts, use separate, strong, secure passwords.
