Re: Heating and Range in Electric Vehicle Survey
Huh, must be composed by those researchers live in Melbourne or Tassie. So irrelevant for other users in Oz. Ability not to worry that one's battery degrade due to heat (instead of heating internal cabin issue) is the bees knees for Oz.
Re: Heating and Range in Electric Vehicle Survey
Melbourne has the record for the hottest day in any Australian capital, so I don't agree with your claim that we don't have to worry about external heat causing degradation. Even Hobart can get over 40 degrees on rare occasions.

Re: Heating and Range in Electric Vehicle Survey
This is true, but it's about the long term average temperature. Hobart or Melbourne might get a 46 or 47'C day, but Perth will get a month of 32'C+ and high overnight minimums.

Nowhere to indicate you only care about windscreen defogging though.

Re: Heating and Range in Electric Vehicle Survey
I have to ration my heater use to defrost my windscreen on my way home on nightshift in the winter or else I won't make it home. I can't preheat it while it is plugged in, because it is not plugged in at home in a garage. I have a switch to turn off the heating element so I can operate the fan without the climate control on and manually give it bursts of heat only when required to defrost/deice the windscreen. Some people live in inland Australia and it can be -5 C overnight in the winter, 32 C overnight in the summer and 45 all day.
