New logo design for AEVA

Post by reecho » Mon, 22 Dec 2014, 04:39

I have taken on the task of organising a new range of clothing for AEVA. After the last branch meeting in Perth I got talking to Mitch and it was mentioned he had an idea for a logo design to bring us bang up to date.

SWMBO works for a tier 1 clothing supplier and they have graciously offered to supply me items at cost.

My timeline is to get a range organised for Perth's Electrokhana in March 2015.

So items for consideration will be polo shirts, caps, bomber jackets, wind cheaters etc.

I would like some feedback on what people would be happy with clothing wise.

Attached is a sample done for us. Again thanks to Mitchell Bisby for the artwork..!!

I like it! Rob mentioned that the website can be easily interfaced with an online store for selling shirts, caps and stubby holders, so everyone can get some should they place the order!

i like the look but think of it this way

remove the web address and walk up to someone that has no idea about this forum or group and ask them what it stands for (not telling them that there are letters in the design) and i would say most of them would not know what the hell you are talking about

not to mention it looks like CAEVA or CAEUA if you are looking for letters

what is wrong with moding the one we have? (i am no artiest by any meens that is for sure)lettersImage

The first person who saw the logo (the digitiser) was a lady who had no idea about anything cars or EV.

She picked it.

Sorry to be so blunt but....

I don't like the old or the new one. The original is a terrible font from the late 80's and Both of them make me squint and go what is that.

While I think (AEVA) abbreviation can be relaxed and perhaps incorporated into the log graphics. Although I do think its a little to lost in that design.

Edit: Association not assassination Image

I think (Australian Electric vehicle association) would have so much more impact if it was included in full not abbreviated under the logo. Then you can have 100% certainty anyone who can read will know exactly what the subject mater is and then they can smile at the quirky smart graphics/logo perhaps two lines 2nd one being the web address.

Think it would look cleaner without the letter C / charge cable and full name instead of website.

I don't think it needs the address too the full name is better. mainly because people who see it will type aeva into google anyway not remember aeva.asn.au

I'll buy a shirt or jacket only buy a shirt if its like >90% cotton. and probably a bummer sticker or too.

maybe make a new thread with a poll

God I'm thick. I only just got it. It's a Leaf and that's the charge cable. I agree with EV2Go - lose the charge cable.
I don't think I'll want a bummer sticker....

While I understand some of the feedback already I think the gist is being lost, a little.

The clothing is not meant to AEVA sell directly to punters. If it was the design isn't right.

Think of it as a work uniform of sorts. Signs, flyers, banners and vehicles on display do the work for us.

Why change?

The AEVA has been around since 1973, formed at a time when oil shocks were real. Vehicles had to be converted. Batteries were heavy and generally rubbish.

We are now at an exciting time for EV's. Batteries are good but can and will be better. Production cars are available as well as a fantastic selection of ICE vehicles to convert. PV generation is cheap. Off-grid storage will be a thing very soon.

While we are doing the same fundamentals as were done 41 years ago, we are entering a new exciting phase.

All the reasons combined are a good reason to freshen up the design.

Having the full AEVA name on a shirt isn't really practical. It could be done on the opposite side I guess which would increase cost.

Keep the feedback coming anyways...... Image

Hmmm - I like the suggested shirt logo! Looks a little bit cluttered perhaps - but I'm no artist, so am a bit pressed to offer suggestions that would clean it up.

Keep up the good work!

Perhaps the website need not be on the logo, but the full words of the acronym instead (as two lines of text).

I agree though - it's time to freshen it up a little. I can see that it's a Leaf charging, and I never spotted the C at the front Image

What if the plug was a standard 3 pin stopping about level with the front bumper? To be honest I never realised the web address was .asn.au as I've told everyone it was .com.au..... but I am a bit slow like that
www.aeva in a Google search brings the whole lot up, so no real need for the .asn.au, the www. says it's a web address.
So, www.aeva centred between the wheel dots and a second line with Australian Electric Vehicle Assoc under it perhaps?
Just adding thoughts to the pool, I've been through a similar thing try to come up with a trademark design for a possible company sometime in the future and everyone has a different idea

No, I didn't see the "C" it until you mentioned it.

As to whether or not the public knows how to charge a Nissan Leaf, I think you will find the answer blowing in the wind. We're looking for a stylish alternative to the now outdated 1973 logo. Can I see your suggestion?
