...In wheel motor, from BYD.

This company has EV buses going into several Countries.

Also has BYD taxis operating in fleets already.

So heavy GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) vehicles are now being EV'd in fleets.

Makes you think that General fleet trucks could be viable in 4-6 years?

What do you think..

Is mass transportation by EV bus nearly here?

(Was looking for a section like "Other production Vehicles" to post in)

Any chance of another section in production EV's for "Other EV production vehicles' ?

Oh,
" The BYD 12-meter buses have accumulated 23 million Km (~14M miles) of in-revenue service world-wide and also have become synonymous with low maintenance costs. The high-floor loading-system designed for the 18 meter articulated bus has been developed specifically for Bogota’s TransMilenio Rapid Transit system serving the capital of Colombia. The BRT opened to the public in December 2000 with 11 lines totaling 87 km (~54 miles) running throughout the city. As of October 2012, up to 1400 buses were circulating on the BRT system in Bogota. BYD’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems have a high-floor to match loading platforms like a subway ensure efficient loading protocols. They can also be designed with a very-low floor if customers specify. The BYD bus strength is enhanced by using a strong steel chassis and an aluminum body. According to initial prototype testing in China, the 18 meter BYD articulated bus ran 240 km (150 miles) on a single charge – this would fully meet the daily requirements for Colombian city BRT transport. The link. .nearly forgot...

BCI were selling an electric school bus a couple of years ago.
A school operator in Vic bought one.

Here in Hobart as with several other places, there was once an electric Trolley Bus network, with electric buses powered from overhead wires.
It was shut down in 1968 to be replaced by petrol buses.
The only place in the region still running trolley buses is Wellington NZ.
I think the future is a hybrid trolley bus.
Batteries are still too expensive for a 300km range which would be needed as a minimum (one of our buses does up to 600km a day....) so pure battery buses will be limited for a while to school runs and specialised work.
On the other hand, trolley buses are limited by where the overhead wires are and stop if there is a blackout.
How about a trolley bus with enough batteries for 25km range?
Wires only need to be strung on the main routes, the feeder loops cod be done on battery power before hooking up again to run on the main roads.
Detours around accidents or roadworks will not be an issue.
In a blackout buses can return to depot before breaking out the reserve diesels which would otherwise only work on longer runs.

That would be Crown Coaches.
Crown Coaches
I see this bus, and their BCI Hybrid bus, about once a week coming out os a school on Springvale Road in Donvale so I suspect the school requests them specifically.
