List of conversion workshops in Australia
Hi all,
Through EV Works I often get asked about conversion workshops around Australia, I'm aware of quite a few but would like to update the list on EV Works' links page to include any I missed, or if any of the ones I know have stopped. So in alphabetical order..
BEV (Vic, only does Getz)
Convert Ur Car (NSW)
EV Shop (Perth)
EV Works (Perth)
EVE Motor Group (NSW)
SAEV (SA)
Thunderbolt Autos (NSW)
I know GT Tooling (NSW) is doing a few now too. And there's Voltwerks in SA is starting up. Victoria seems a bit light-on for workshops. Any others? Got a feeling there's one in QLD I forgot..

BEV has done at least one MX-5. Not sure if they still do non-Getz cars.

Graeme mainly (only?) converts Suzuki donors with lower-end DC systems, but might be willing to customise.

WRT to QLD Conversion Workshops, there are 2 more:
I'm setting up a business to do conversions in Brisbane:
EVolve Motors
Runcorn
Greg MacDonald
gmacd33@gmail.com
0438984089
I'll be doing medium to high-end DC conversions, with highway speeds, air-con, power steering, 100km range etc. Fairly customisable, will look at any type of car.
I'm not quite up and running yet - will be in the new year; taking expressions of interest in the meanwhile.
There is also Deep Green Research, which does Mitsubishi Lancer using high-end AC conversions - Michael will be talking at the BAEVA meeting tonight about it.

I should probably update this - I'm not offering conversions now as I'm focusing on building high performance supercars. I can help with advice, but can only sell you a high performance (read high price) new car.

Hi People,
I am interested in conversion workshops in Sydney and have checked the preceding posts in this thread. The business "Convert Ur Car" has gone out of business and the website for "Eve Motor Group" is actually a photography website with no mention of EVs.
I basically have a Suzuki Swift conversion which I need finished off. "Finished off" means new shockies to handle the increase in weight, covers over the already installed batteries, engineer's certificate and rego'd. The car runs quite well.
Does anyone know of conversion workshops in Sydney as the lists in the preceding posts are difficult to track down?
Thanks muchly in advance,
Paul

Back on topic...
It's taken me a little bit of time, and I still have a bit more in front of me to be set up fully.
I'm Brad of Arc EV in Pakenham, Victoria (South-east suburbs of Melbourne).
With any luck I will have my website operational by the end of this week. www.arcev.com.au For now I'm concentrating on part's supply, but will gradually be moving to full conversions. I'd prefer not to post a phone number for now, as I work from home for the moment. I will have contact details on my site.

Hi guys, I'm looking forward to a career in EV development and/or conversions.. I'd love to hear about any EV workshops that are in VIC, BEV is a bit far out for me, however evengineering.com.au are the company that are converting commodores into fully battery electric vehicles.. their current project is scheduled to finish in July, however they are looking for new contracts to continue working.

I never really hit it off with Ross, but still sad to see him go the way of Azure Dynamics. Looks like history will repeat itself and the next century of automobiles will be the same as the last, the prerogative of the multi nationals.

any news on Arc EV workshop for Melbourne?
An Ariel Atom-like single seater "Blade Edge" would have made more sales globally than an Electron for Ross.

Hey I like what evengineering did with those Commodores. That drop in rear transaxle with the UQM motor/Borg Warner box is very tidy. No mention of whose controller is running it although Tritium are listed as a BMS supplier.
I think the swapable battery is a winner too. Anybody heard any whispers on what sort of range they are getting from the 30kwh battery pack?
PS: Actually, on closer inspection, looks like it's a UQM controller too.

UQM sell the motor and controller as a complete system. They are REALLY expensive and won't consider DIYers. It is beyond me what they are doing with the millions when they are not even developing an Australian drive train - considering the controller (Wavesculptor) is available already.
