Power wires or signal wires?

Metal gland.
Usually this is done at the source (motor controller).
You really should check that they have no continuity to any of the wires.
Otherwise you could earth your ground...

Anyone have other ideas that could be used to store energy for use after the sun goes down? Well I believe they have all been done before. Electrostatic, Electrochemical, Moving stuff, pumping stuff, heating, cooling... All have their advantages and disadvantages. Its pretty hard to beat regular ba...

A curtis controller might work too:
1234SE-452X
1234SE-562X
But I expect they'll be harder to get and cost more.

Re: tractor conversion

As I understand I need to add an encoder to the motor, where can i get one that would work with let's say Kelly KAC-8080I An encoder is only needed it you want fine torque control. The Kelly controllers do seem to be the cheapest option for an Induction motor. KAC72601-8080I USD$700 KAC72701-8080I ...

Re: tractor conversion

...rewind industrial 4 pole 400 V AC motor 7.5 kWh to 22V . Although the specifications match your tractor I'm skeptical that someone would rewind it to 22Vac. When you think about 400Vac/22Vac this is 18:1. I'd think this would mean you'd only have 3 or 4 conductors per slot. Or many in parallel. ...

Sorry why couldn't an industrial motor controller/inverter be used?
couldn't one be be tricked into outputting 240Vac 50Hz.

"I want it to do this...blah blah blah"
"what do you suggest".

At those power levels and RPM and voltage you are bettor off with an etek motor(DC magnet motor) or mars motor (AC magnet motor).

Re: AC electric motor rewinding for EV use

48V is pretty low.

So
50Hz-1500RPM 7.5kW nominal 18-22kW peak
75Hz-2250RPM 11.2kW nominal 28-33kW peak
It would have to be rewound to 22Vac.
Very unlikely.

Alternatively you can be confident in your work, assume its all good, and not test it.

antiscab wrote: Fri, 18 Oct 2019, 13:41 Their resistance changes with temperature
Mmmm I tested the ones I have here.
They changed +1.6%

So 8 in series run at 90V would go from 246W cold to 242W hot.
I'm in the opinion that this is not significant enough to concern a load test.

Quoting pictures

When quoting someone that includes a picture the actual image location isn't copied over in the quote.
I have to go back to the original post copy image location and paste it back into the quote.
