PIP-4048MS inverter

Does anyone know what meter is used to measure the Ah capacity of Lifepo4 cells. Mine come with data sheets so it is easy to select similar capacity cells to make up a bank but the meter could help Zenonhost make up his battery bank You need one that does a capacity test (full charge followed by fu...

PHEVS in Oz, future EVs

for people who drive very short distances and can recharge at home, even a very low electric ranged PHEV may be sufficient for them to travel mostly on electricity, thus the 4 cylinder engine is only used for occasional long distance travel or emergency backup. The problem with that is small batter...

Charger 3kw and 2kw?

A 2kw charger can supply 2kw max at either a certain max voltage or a certain max amperage but not both at the same time? Yes that's it. Though 2000W is usually rated output, and isn't exact (ie within the measurement error of the chargers own current/voltage sensors) My charger was for 34 cells x ...

real time electricity generation

The residential generation would be calculated from registered system sizes, orientations and measured solar intensity. Might be under estimated depending upon how many unregistered systems may be connected

real time electricity generation

Hi Guys,

in my travels I came across a few interesting sources of real time electricity generation:

NEM Australian Generation

European electricity map

I remember there being another Australian one, but can't seem to find it again.

interesting the turtle didn't come up

are you able to use canion or similar to see cell voltages? the voltages at 0 bars and at full charge would be telling

If you didn't run into the turtle, than perhaps the fuel guage has merely been re calibrated with a lower expected battery capacity

Charger 3kw and 2kw?

The newest version chargers have a completely different layout. I just checked, the smallest charger that does above 96v nominal is 3.3kW. It's physically half the size of the old 1.5kW unit. http://s.aliexpress.com/Q7nyaIBj I'm without a computer at the moment, so switching between screens on my ha...

The tc chargers with the enable option allow you to vary charge rate by putting a resistor on the enable line instead of a direct short. At least they used to.

GBS cell smell question

All the cells I have ever owned have given off that smell when put in an enclosed space. It doesn't take much of the solvent to seep out before we can smell it.

I'd just proceed with the conversion

The upside is it can be mistaken for new car smell

SA you got power problems?

TBH there are other grid storage suppliers that can do the same. It's all just business to Musk. I'd rather have the investment go to a local. But hey if SA wants a brand name storage at the expense of the local market go ahead. *snip* I don't watch the news much but I was under the impression the ...

actually, I would go a step further, a lobby for right to repair laws, that requires car manufacturers to publish enough information on their cars to be able to maintain them.

DIY Conversions nearly dead ?

At this point in time I wouldn't buy a commercial EV offering simply because it takes away from being self maintainable (I don't want to swap one dependance for another). The solution here is reverse engineering, as has already been done with Vectrix, leaf, iMiev, etc Self maintainable is possible,...

someone needs to buy the expensive OEM EV's and crash them to create a source of cheap parts for the DIY crowd For a while batteries were dirt cheap because the leaf modules were'nt worth anything. Now the price has gone up and the US is the main exporter of used batteries from crashed EV's DIY isn'...

WTB: Vectrix (or functional equivilant)

I'm aiming for 110 capable. I do find myself out on the M4 every now and then, and don't want to be not able to keep up with traffic. A vectrix can definately do that, so can a newer Zero. The guy selling the green one on gumtree got back to me last night. It's running SLA batteries, and he's claim...

WTB: Vectrix (or functional equivilant)

The noise is the straight cut gears in the gearbox. They last forever. The quieter helical cut gears ate quieter, but also weaker with higher friction loses All the vectrix in Australia are 2007. There was only one shipment of like 200 bikes. They're fairly cheap now due to their age. It's a shame b...

My NHW10 (Mk1 Prius) is alive!

That's a shame to hear

unfortunately there's no easy way to limit the regen or drive current and voltage limits, without reprogramming the battery ECU

There was so much promise with these cars, but it seems to be getting too hard now
